HERE WE GO AGAIN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we’re off and running. Or should it be we’re on and running? First off, I want to thank all of you who’ve, over the last few weeks, sent such lovely e-mails to both David Levy and myself.

I’m very happy to have this brand spanking new website devoted to my pal Guy Haines, and I’m glad he’s allowing me to have a place to scribble my thoughts. And just what are my thoughts? Well, today, Monday, they are varied and many, so let’s get to them, shall we?

But first, you must click the link below to see them. Don’t ask me why, this is just Mr. Mark Bakalor’s way of making things difficult. That is in his nature, and no matter how hard we may try, we may not change people’s natures. Click away.

There, that wasn’t too hard. Now, where was I? I’ve completely lost the point. Oh, yes, my varied and many thoughts for, today, Monday. As many of you know, I have two albums coming out on December 4th: Do I Hear A Waltz? and Pete ‘N Keely. I produced them. I mention this only because a certain website has neglected (funny that) to impart that information. Why, you’d think these albums produced themselves, but I can assure you, they didn’t. I’m very proud of both of them, so be sure to order them (they’re available many places, including Amazon) or you’ll be able to find them in the stores. I’m just trying to figure out if that was a “varied” or a “many” thought. Does anyone know what the hell I’m talking about?

I am glad everyone liked my review of the movie Jaws, a film about sharks. If you missed it, Mr. Mark Bakalor has this handy-dandy site set up so you can read all of the past entries. I do hope to be able to talk about what’s gone on since October 20th (Black Saturday, as we fondly think of it), but now is not the time. No, now is the time to review another of my favorite films: Double Indemnity.

What can one say about Double Indemnity that hasn’t already been said. It’s a great movie about double crossing underhanded people who simply cannot be trusted. Who is doing what to whom? One never knows in this film. “Straight down the line” says Phyllis Dietrichson, but is that line really straight, or is the wool being pulled over Mr. Walter Neff’s eyes. I won’t give anything away, other than to say that the double-crossers get their just desserts and I don’t mean cherry pie or rice pudding. The film is available on DVD in a fair-only transfer.

May I tell you what I’ve been doing since last May? Did you notice that the previous sentence has the word May at both the beginning and end? May/May – One May a word, one May the name of a month. Did you know that either May spelled backwards is Yam? Just asking. Anyway, here is what I’ve been doing since last May: I’ve been writing a brand spanking new novel. That’s what I’ve been doing since May. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I have been writing a novel since May. Not only have I been writing a novel since May, I have also produced nine albums since May (between May and September, actually) and I have become disassociated with a company which still bears the name I gave it (a name which, by the way, I made up way back in 1993 and which I’ve used as my internet presence ever since). That’s a lot of stuff to do in a short period of time, especially if you throw a novel into the equation. Have you ever thrown a novel into the equation? It’s lots of fun and I recommend it to anyone who likes to throw novels. In any case, I began my very first novel last May, and I’m proud and happy to say I finished it two weeks ago. It was, in fact, very helpful in getting me through a very difficult period. It also got me through a difficult semi-colon and even a few traumatic exclamation points. It was a very interesting experience for me and I had a great time doing it, although it was very frightening at the same time. The novel is being delivered to my agents at the William Morris Agency and I’ll keep you posted as to whatever progress is made.

Well, those were certainly some varied and many thoughts, were they not? And, they were, I hope, not illiterate, which is more than we can say for some things one reads at other websites.

I’ll have more to say and I’ll be saying it on a regular basis, as my fancy strikes me. Actually, if my fancy strikes me I do believe I shall strike it right back. Who does my fancy think it is anyway?
