January 28, 2003:

A LOVELY DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what a lovely day I had yesterday. It started off with a lovely meeting at which lovely things were discussed. From there I went to another lovely meeting where more lovely things were discussed, including setting the start dates for both preproduction and filming of the film. I shall be announcing all details of the film very very soon. Then I went to Mr. Todd Ellison’s apartment and we went through some music and chatted quite a bit about many lovely things. Then I went to Joe Allen and we had our lovely Hainsies/Kimlets get-together. What fun we had. It was quite lively sparkling and filled with merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. Miss Susan Gordon was there (and only five minutes late), as was our very own Mr. Steve Gurey, Mr. William E. Lurie and his ever lovin’, our very own and lovely Theresa Finamore and our friend Christopher Whose-last-name-I-never-remember. Mr. Al Pacino was there, too, although, because we were out of room at our table, he sat at a couple of tables down. We had lovely food and conversation – many startling things were revealed and a startling photo was taken. Mr. William E. Lurie brought us a huge bagful of gummy candies from the establishment at which he works and it was all simply too too. We wish everyone had been there, truly we do. Mr. William F. Orr and Mr. Craig Brockman both called although Joe Allen is not cell phone-friendly and both Susan and my cell phones got little reception. I then went home and had a lovely sleep and here I am, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, whatever the hell that means.

Today I have non-stop meetings all day, most of which concern Nudie Musical. You shall have a full report tomorrow. I received an e-mail from the producer of the Penn and Teller show saying that the show had gotten a very good first rating and that Showtime was “thrilled”. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

May I just say that it is cold here in New York, New York. I literally thought I was going to freeze to death right there on the street during one particularly nasty gust of wind. Apparently it was eight count them eight degrees yesterday.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get ready for my first meeting which is coming up very soon indeed.

Have I mentioned that I’ve been having a lovely time here in New York, New York? Have I mentioned that it is colder than a New Zealand wombat?

I have quite a beautiful view out my hotel window, looking west. It looks very cold out. I think someone should invent a coat with a heater inside the lining, don’t you? Yes, I think I shall invent that and take a patent out immediately and I shall be ever so rich and famous as the inventer of the Heating Coat. We shall call it the Hainsies/Kimlets Hot Coat for Cold Weather and it shall be wildly successful and we shall all eat cheese slices and ham chunks and dance the Hora endlessly. What the hell am I talking about?

Well, dear readers, I must dally and tarry no further because I hope to have another lovely day ahead of me. I must take that self-same day, I must do the things I do, I must get in cabs very quickly so as not to freeze to death, and I must be charming and hilarious, not necessarily in that order. Today’s topic of discussion: Moving along to the next decade – what are your favorite films of the 40s? Post away, my pretties, and post often so that when I return later I shall have lots of lovely and stimulating reading matter.
