IT’S GET-TOGETHER WEATHER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here I am in the city that never sleeps, New York, New York. The Jet Blue flight was long but pleasant and the Long Beach airport is ever so much easier to deal with than LAX. That said, why is it people abuse the carry-on luggage rules as they do? They ran out of room on the plane because people were lugging these huge bags on, bigger than allowed, and it took up all the space. I travel with just an overnight bag and a laptop, which is what you’re supposed to be doing – or a bag which will fit neatly in the overheads. These bags people brought did not fit neatly – they had to be shoved and squeezed and forced into the overheads. In fact, the crew had to remove a few and check them so that people who had followed the rules could store their bags that did fit. In any case, the flight was smooth and I arrived in New York around six and got into the city by six-forty. I unpacked and immediately went to Joe Allen with Jonathan, the fellow who is assisting me on various projects. It was snowing lightly as we went, but not nearly as cold as it has been. At Joe Allen we met up with Richard Valley and Tom Amorosi, publishers of Scarlet Street magazine, and we had a fine time. We ran into our very own Brent Barrett, too.

Today I have several meetings to attend and then our little Hainesies/Kimlets get-together, which apparently will be little indeed. Where in tarnation is everyone? It’s still not too late for you to join us – simply e-mail dear reader Susan for details (her e-mail link is in yesterday’s posts). Speaking of yesterday, if you missed any of the weekend’s frivolity and fun you must use the handy-dandy Unseemly Archive Button to catch up. We talked and posted of many fascinating topics, so do check it out. Also, Donald has a brand spanking new radio show up, so check it out, too.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve got to vamoose shortly and have some work to do on this here laptop before I do.

Looking outside my hotel window it looks like a beautiful day here in New York, New York, with clear blue skies. Wasn’t that a fine weather report? I will have some more cast announcements for the Tourette’s Syndrome benefit later this week. Part of the difficulty is that there is another charity benefit that night, some Broadway thing, which we didn’t know when we scheduled ours because theirs hadn’t been planned at that point. But our company of players will be excellent, believe you me, with some lovely surprises thrown in for good measure.

Mr. Mark Bakalor, despite having promised our new rogue’s gallery of photos going up asap, has still not put them up and I feel he is very close to a group bitch-slapping from here to eternity. That is what I feel, oh, yes, that is what I feel.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go hither and thither and also yon to my various and sundried meetings and I must prepare for our get-together this very evening. But I will be checking in this afternoon and I should hope there are lots and lots of posts for my mental delectation. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite films of the 30s? I thought this week we’d go decade by decade and see what your favorites for each decade are. So, post away, my pretties and I will see you later today.
