MOTH WATERING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a very restful Sunday and am now ready for the week ahead and also the week aelbow. Last night, for a very short time, I watched something called The People’s Choice Awards. I remember when this sorry excuse for something-or-other was first on, when it was held on some soundstage with six tables, some dress extras, and some two-bit hosts on a local channel. It’s gotten bigger, oh, yes, it’s certainly gotten bigger but it most certainly has not gotten better, oh, no, it has not gotten better. In fact, it is sorrier than ever, a lame excuse to parade celebrities for no reason whatsoever. Prior to the show (and the only way I knew it was on), I’d been flipping around channels and had come upon the pre-show on E! with Miss Joan Rivers and her daughter, Melissa. My goodness, who is Joan Rivers? I mean, I know who she is but she doesn’t even resemble what she used to look like. She’s like some animatronic clone, and it’s painful to look at her. During the pre-show they kept showing clips for an upcoming celebrity date show – with Phyllis Diller going on a date. Phyllis is another person with not one real part left on her entire body, and if this is the level of celebrity they’re getting for celebrity date then E! has become an even bigger joke than usual. Of course, that ‘joke’ is wildly successful, which is more a measure of the incredibly stupid times we’re living in rather than quality. The other amusing thing about the People’s Choice Awards was that I didn’t know what half the TV shows were, nor did I have any idea who half the presenters were. I will tell you that Mr. Tony Danza prerecorded his opening number and taps at my friend Grant Geissman’s home studio – the tap board was still there when we were doing our demos on Saturday.

What am I, Tom Shales all of a sudden? Let’s talk about more exciting things, like our Unseemly Live Chat at six o’clock Pacific Mean Time. Let’s talk about my upcoming New York trip which looks like it will be on the 26th of this month. I’ll be flying in on a Sunday, and will leave, most likely, on Tuesday evening. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too? Let’s talk about my book signing this coming Saturday at Barnes and Noble at the Grove. I hope everyone will send any friends living in Los Angeles, California to our signing because then it will be crowded and full and there will be merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. I’ll have complete details tomorrow, but I believe it’s at three o’clock on Saturday.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I need to make phone calls and do things and I cannot until we all click on the Unseemly Button below.

Now, if you were errant and truant over the weekend you really missed a lot of stuff (the errant and truant know who they are), so I’d go check it out. On Saturday, in addition to sparkling notes, we had a plethora (and I do mean a plethora) of recipes from dear readers and they were moth-watering, let me tell you. Did anyone notice that I inadvertently typed “moth-watering” rather than “mouth-watering”? Well, I guess that means that the recipes were both moth and mouth-watering. Have you ever watered a moth? I’d like to, just for the amusement of it. Later today, I may try to find a moth and water it. I shall let you know the result. What the hell am I talking about?

Not only did we have recipes, but we also are in the midst of an Unseemly Trivia Contest (answers can be submitted through this evening) and yesterday, in addition to sparkling notes, we had a brand spanking new Meltz and Ernest song entitled Jesus Is My Trip. So, if you missed any of it, do use the Unseemly Archive Button and check it out. Also, Donald has a brand spanking new radio show up, so check that out, too.

I mentioned on Friday, that Mr. Brent Barrett will be doing an Unseemly Interview, as will Mr. Doug Storm, currently in Dance of the Vampires – and I’m happy to announce that Miss Melissa Errico will be doing one as well. We will be making up for lost time, interview-wise, and I’ll be doing a few whilst in New York as well.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must find a moth and water it, I must do my daily tasks and then I must prepare for our Unseemly Live Chat. I do hope that all of you can make it this evening for it will be a sparkling affair. Today’s topic of discussion: Since there have been quite a few dear reader posts about Jack Cole, what is your favorite filmed dance number? I gave my answers on Ask BK Day last week, so now it’s your turn. Those numbers which were realized perfectly, both for dance and the way in which they were filmed. Post away, my pretties and I’ll check back in in a bit and see you all tonight at our moth-watering live chat.
