CHILLER II

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I shall be winging my way home momentarily, so must write these here notes in a thrice. Day Two of the Chiller convention was a bit disappointing, given the grandiose predictions we were all told. Maybe it was the room we were in, but there were just not that many people around. Susan did pretty well, and I sold a few DVDs and even a few books, which was nice. Meanwhile, The Misfits had so many people there to see them (they didn’t even arrive until after two) that Susan finally went and got a security guard to get the people out of the room so others could get in and “find” us. I did meet some very nice people, and I liked Ken Kelly (a wonderful fantasy artist) and novelist Jack Ketchum very much. We were pretty rowdy and irreverent all day, and there was much laughing. We were disappointed that no Hainsies/Kimlets showed up – you may all await your bitch-slaps in the lobby. All in all, it was fun, and we dined with Richard Valley and company after the show.

Before we go any further, let us don our pointy party hats, our colored tights and pantaloons, and let us partake of cheese slices and ham chunks, and let us dance the Hora or even the polka in honor of dear reader William F. Orr’s beloved Joe. I believe his birthday was yesterday and we all hope it was faboo.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve got more to say over on the other side.

First of all, even though I shall be tired, we will have our regularly scheduled live chat tonight at six o’clock Pacific Mean Daylight Savings Time. I do hope you will all be there. Also, be sure to check out Donald’s brand spanking new radio show.

This is quite a big week for DVD releases, but the two most important ones for me are Criterion’s The White Sheik, one of my ten favorite films of all time, and The Swimmer, with Burt Lancaster, a strange but wonderful little movie, directed (mostly) by Frank Perry. Also, the Duke in Big Jake and Rio Lobo, Steve McQueen in Le Mans, and a big Criterion Truffaut box set with all the Antoine Doinel films. I’ll have full reports for you on all of them during the week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must leave this hotel and be on my merry way. I will see you all later at the chat. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Sunday – free-for-all day, the day in which anything goes – discuss any and all topics of your choosing and discuss them at length.
