CRASH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, you won’t believe it. I can barely believe it myself and yet it is true so I must believe it. We had a little crash here at haineshisway.com, but thanks to Mr. Mark Bakalor we are back up and running and trying to figure out what to do to prevent such things in the future. Luckily, we were able to save yesterday’s notes and posts. In any case, to the notes, post haste.

Well, dear readers, hold your hats and hallelujah because we’ve got a birthday to celebrate on this Sunday on this Labor Day Weekend. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, in addition to our Labor Day Party we’re havin’ a birthday bash, too. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too? So, let’s put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s break out the cheese slices and ham chunks and Diet Coke, let us dance the hora or, at the very least, The Jerk, because today is dear reader Sarah’s Sweet Sixteen. Yes, Virginia, Swishy Sarah is Sweet Sixteen on this very day of days. Let us give Swishy Sarah a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer, shall we? On the count of three: One, two three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN SWISHY SARAH!

I hope all of you are having a lovely Labor Day Weekend doing whatever it is you are doing. I am having a restful and relaxing weekend thus far. Yesterday, I had my unkempt hair kemptified and I look ever so much better without the flip in the back. I ate pasta with butter and cheese. I managed to get some writing done, and I also picked up some brand spanking new DVDs, including Larry Cohen’s quite mad, Q, a brand spanking new Region 2 Roman Polanski box, the box we’ve been waiting for – featuring enhanced for widescreen transfers of Cul-de-Sac and Repulsion, a subtitled Knife in the Water, and all ten of Mr. Polanski’s short films. The box also includes new interviews with Mr. Polanski, Gil Taylor (who shot Cul-de-Sac and Repulsion), the producers of the films, and several actors and behind the scenes folks. Repulsion also has an audio commentary with Mr. Polanski and Miss Catherine Deneuve. A wonderful set, which I’m sure will come out here at some point. I also picked up the Barbara Stanwyck Titanic, which looks great, two Don Knotts comedies, The Reluctant Astronaut and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, and also The Apple Dumpling Gang, in which I appear quite briefly (and without billing – what was my agent thinking?). I’ve already watched Q, and I’ve just started Titanic.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, since most people are away being errant and truant anyway.

I do hope that our birthday girl will tell us all about her presents when she is next present. And don’t forget, for those who are around or even for those who are arectangle, Donald will have a new radio show up this afternoon, plus we’ve got a brand spanking new Unseemly Interview for your mental delectation with our very own Grant Geissman. He talks about the albums we’ve done together, the amazing people he’s worked with, the musicals he’s played for, and our current project, Jeepers Creepers. So, check it out.

Also, our Unseemly Live Chat is tomorrow night at six o’clock Pacific Mean Daylight Savings time, so be there or be round.

Last night, I also went to a party at a friend who lives a mere two blocks from here. Since I was in a writing mode I knew I wouldn’t be there long, but I do think I broke the record for short party stays since I managed to sneak out after fifteen minutes. I didn’t know one single person (except for the hostess) and I’m just not good at parties where I don’t know anyone. I tend to wander around aimlessly looking like a Wandering Jew with nowhere to go. I met a couple of people who seemed nice enough, but as I was talking to them, the hostess took them away to meet other people. That’s when I hit the road, Jack.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must relax and write and watch DVDs and eat various and sundried foodstuffs, as well as party until the cows come home. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, but given the attendance of yesterday’s party, I suspect there won’t be many topics – however, you’re on your own, topic-wise, and I’ll be checking in quite often to offer my two or even eight cents. I’d say let’s have loads of lovely posts, but since that won’t be happening, I shall settle for whatever excellent and lovely posts we can muster.

In fact, let’s muster away to make up for our late start. We can do it, Hainsies/Kimlets, I know we can. On your mark (Bakalor), get set, GO.
