THE ZONKED NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had our first rehearsal in the theater and it was exhausting. Everyone was a bit on edge trying to adjust to the new space. I let the choreographers have the first two hours to run numbers. What happens is that people forget everything because nothing is as they’re used to having it be – no mirrors, different space, having to learn where the center line of the stage is (it’s very confusing in this theater, but we’ve put tape up). Our set should at least be standing for tomorrow’s rehearsal. We managed to get through the first act, stopping and starting, and some of the numbers actually worked very well. There are two numbers where I have to actually add a lot of staging – just too static now that I see them in the theater. So, a lot of work, but we all like the space very much and our baby grand piano looks quite spiffy. I was quite zonked after the rehearsal and so these here notes will be quite zonked, I have no doubt.

Aren’t these delightfully delightful zonked notes? I hope I can keep up the zonkness of these here notes. I would hate to have a let-down, zonked notes-wise. Last night I finished watching Thunderbirds Are Go – beautiful transfer and I really enjoyed it. It’s obviously padded for feature length but there’s just something so funky and charming about it, and the marionettes are really good, as are the miniature sets and models. Also, the score by Barry Gray helps move things along really well. Next up, Thunderbirds 6. Oh, and in Thunderbirds Are Go there is a nifty musical episode in the middle with puppet versions of Cliff Richard and The Shadows.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly or even georgely, I’m zonked.

Has anyone noticed that these here notes are zonked, too? Zonked Notes, that’s the ticket. Here is some exciting news: Today I shall be getting a haircut. My hair is quite unseemly right now, and I shall look ever so much better after my haircut. I will look young and gay and urbane and suave and sophisticated. I will walk down the street with a spring in my step. Have you ever had a spring in your step? I once had a winter in my step and it was no fershluganah fun at all. What the hell am I talking about?

Tammy will be doing some cable-access talk show today, publicizing our show. I’ve also found out that our very own Richard Sherman will be attending our opening night, as well as our very own Billy Barnes. I’ll keep you posted as our guest list grows.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must be zonked, I must get un-zonked by rehearsal, I must write some transitional material and also two reprises of our opening number. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player. CD, Capricorn One and Islands in the Stream, in honor of Jerry Goldsmith. DVD, Thunderbirds 6. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? And also zonked postings – I feel we could really use some zonked postings.
