SICK OF SANDWICHES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had a very good dress rehearsal last night, our final rehearsal with Susanne until her return to us on Monday afternoon. We’ll do a complete run-through then to get her back in performance mode for that evening’s invited dress. The cast really had some growth last night – several numbers were really perfect and I’ve asked those performers to lock them. Everything went smoothly except for assorted microphone issues (like someone forgetting to turn their switch to “on” – a very important thing to do – from now on the sound person will check that before the show and at intermission). The lighting is looking very good, the set is basically finished except for some touchups, and I’m pretty happy with what I saw. The flow was very very smooth and effortless. Some people are still having quick-change issues but everyone did what they needed to do. Today we’ll be cleaning up some lingering sloppiness in the group numbers, then tomorrow everyone has a day off to rest, relax and think about what they’re doing. We’ll be running all the light cues, and working on the sound a lot. Alet had a terrific idea for a small bit and we incorporated it into the show last night and it worked really well – better than what we had in the bit slot previously (similar, but funnier). Alet really took the biggest leap last night – she was superb from start to finish. Now she just needs to lock it in. But everyone was excellent and was finding new moments and really starting to have fun, which is the key for this show. To think we started rehearsing this thing three-and-a-half weeks ago – mind-boggling.

Might I just say that I am intensely sick of sandwiches? Yes, Virginia, I am sick of sandwiches. I have eaten nothing but sandwiches for lunch and dinner for the last week. I am so looking forward to a good meal, and that good meal may just happen this evening after rehearsal, because several of us are longing for a good meal.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because she of the Evil Eye will be here shortly and I must hie myself to the Wood of Holly.

Have I mentioned that I am sick of sandwiches? I do not need to eat another sandwich for quite some time. Yesterday, I simply didn’t have time to get anything prior to going to the theater, so I bought a sandwich at the cafĂ© next door – that sandwich (salami and cheese on a roll – about two bites worth of sandwich, that’s how small it was) was the straw that broke the Kimmel’s back. That was it. It was awful. But, then it was so late by the time I got home I just stopped at Von’s and got one of their ready-made sandwiches. But, that’s it. No more wire sandwiches ever. Have I gone on about sandwiches enough in these here notes? Have we gotten the drift yet? Have we gotten the point that I am sick of sandwiches?

Dear reader elmore is going through some awful health issues, so let’s all send him our best hainsies/kimlets excellent vibes and xylophones, so that he will feel better soon.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go to rehearsal, I must clean-up sloppiness, we must run light cues and sound and then I must eat a meal that doesn’t consist of sandwiches. Today’s topic of discussion: Not sandwiches. Crackers – that is today’s topic of discussion, simply because I am currently eating some and I realized that for heaven’s sake we have never talked about crackers. I love me my crackers. So, what are your favorite crackers – from your childhood right up through now? I’ll start – I love me my Cheeze-Its, I love me my Chicken in a Biscuit or whatever it’s called, I love regular saltines when I’m eating soup, and I occasionally go on huge Wheat Thin binges. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings about all things cracker. And whatever else you’d like to go on about.
