September 24, 2004:

I’VE GOT A LOT OF LIVIN’ TO DO

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here we are on a beautiful Friday, and our last two performances for this run of What If. Last night’s show was a strange one – we ended up having a decent-sized house, but the sound was too loud in the first half of Act One and that was really off-putting, plus there were some inconsistencies in performances. Hopefully, we’ll be back to rights tonight. That has been a frustrating thing, this lack of being able to lock a performance from certain performers. If we do the show again, I’m afraid their going to have to figure out how to do this or I’ll be replacing a couple of people, even though I’d hate to do that. In our audience last night was Mr. Leon Joosen, who just happens to have designed all the covers for the Lost in Boston and Unsung Musicals albums. It was nice to see him again. We also taped the show but I don’t think there was much usable stuff. We’ll be taping again tonight and tomorrow night. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Last night I sat in the hot tub and finally got it working perfectly – temperature right at 102 and I must say I could get addicted to such a thing. It was so relaxing, sitting there, sipping a Diet Coke, talking on the phone and then being totally relaxed. I tell you after the two months of non-stop tension with the house, this is nirvana (anavrin, spelled backwards). This is livin’, man, and I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do – oh, a Bye Bye Birdie reference.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do, don’t you know?

Yes, there are chicks just right for some kissin’ and I mean to kiss me a few. And why? Because I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do. What am I, Ann-Margret all of a sudden?

Have I mentioned that I am fully unboxed, CD, DVD and book-wise? Have I mentioned that I’ve begun hanging my pictures? So far I’ve found excellent places for them, but they’re in a very different configuration than the other house. I’m still deciding on where certain pictures should hang, and then others are not going to be hung at all because they don’t fit in somehow. On top of all that, I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do.

Have I mentioned that I am on a Raisin Bran kick? I eat a bowl every night before going off to dreamland. I don’t much care for cereal but I find Raisin Bran amusing, with all those cute little raisins there. Of course I douse the whole thing with a pound of sugar so what’s not to like. I also bought some English Muffins today, so perhaps I’ll have one of those and then I can feel so veddy British eating my English Muffin. They were totally out of Dutch Muffins and Venezuelan Muffins, not to mention Pomona Muffins. If anyone has a clew as to what the hell I’m going on about please don’t mention it here.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must do errands and take care of some business that needs taking care of, and then I must hang some more pictures and put some more little odds and ends away and then I must be on my way to the theater. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, the magnificent new CD of George Bassman’s score to Sam Peckinpah’s masterpiece, Ride the High Country. This could just be the CD release of the year for me – I love Mr. Bassman’s score so much I’ve played it about twenty times already. The CD also features another Bassman score, Mail Order Bride, which is fantastic as well (it uses the love theme from High Country). I’ve also listened to Franz Waxman’s Cimarron, but I wasn’t nearly as fond of that. DVD, Mr. Godard’s Pierrot Le Fou, and then I must pick up and run the Star Wars Trilogy, and I still haven’t picked up Alias yet. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? As for me, I’ve got a lot of livin’ to do.
