MOVING DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Moving Day in the Studio of City. Moving Men will arrive shortly and begin putting my stuff on a big truck. When that is done, the big truck will then drive two blocks and unload all the stuff into the new home environment. I have to shuffle back and forth between both houses all day, because people are coming to install things at the new house and I must be there when they do. In fact, I’ll be leaving very soon to meet Adelphia there to hook up the Internet for me. And the phone should be on at some point early in the day. Now, here’s the thing: We need your strongest and most excellent vibes for tomorrow – we need tomorrow to go smoothly and then, if it does, I shall have a truly peaceful weekend. After all this moving about I then have to go to the theater to have a final go-through of the new number (which we rehearsed and lit yesterday), and also do a clean-up of two other numbers that have gotten too sloppy for my taste. Then, after the show, I shall come home to the new home environment and spend my first night there. I’ll have more to say on what things I’d like to do there, in terms of some new furniture and things, when I’ve started to unpack boxes and see how everything is fitting. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

I also must prepare for my reading on Saturday, which I do hope some of you will be able to attend. We were invited to attend the announcement of the Ovation Awards nominees yesterday – Tammy, her boyfriend, Eddie, and I went. For naught. We were not nominated in any category. We simply weren’t open long enough for enough voters to see us. That said, I must say I was rather disgusted with the whole affair – not because we weren’t nominated because I knew we wouldn’t be – but because the whole thing is so insular and clique-ish. Tammy and I both felt it was rather nauseating. It seemed like a handful of theaters got all the nominations. And how’s this: One choreographer got three nominations. I’m sorry, but that’s just a little bogus. Plus, the theater where the nominations were announced got a ton of nominations. Said theater happens to be run by one of the bigwigs of the Ovation Awards.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because Moving Men are coming and Adelphia is coming and I must hie myself to the new home environment whilst dear reader Panni is kind enough to stay with the movers until my return.

I see that I only have four minutes in which to complete the notes, should I care to have them posted at midnight. Oh, the pressure. Well, I’ll just wrap them up handily and then post throughout the day as to the progress of the move. We’ll have a blow-by-blow description.

I haven’t been able to watch any DVDs for almost a week. I have the Hitchcock collection to watch, and I have a rather spectacular 21 DVD set of Laurel and Hardy from the UK to start plowing through, which I’m really looking forward to. Not to mention I Married a Monster from Outer Space.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must move, I must shuffle back and forth between homes, I must attend to the minutiae of the move and then I must attend my show. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the longest you’ve lived in one place (outside of your childhood) and what is the shortest you’ve lived in one place. Hold nothing back. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as I move on down the road.
