POSSESSED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, as I posted yesterday, we had a splendidly splendid performance yesterday matinee, with a nice big audience filled with loud happy laughers. We’re now down to our last three performances, at least for now. I’m trying to raise the capital to bring us back in six or eight weeks – we shall see. We’ll be taping the show for archival purposes this week, all three performances (video). A friend is bringing three cameras and we’ll edit it all down after. As you know, I was thinking about doing a cast album CD of the show, but I decided against it at this time, because if we come back there will be at least two more new numbers and I’d rather record it then. I’m still unpacking away – have got about fifty more CD boxes to go, and there are still the living room and dining room and closet boxes that I haven’t even gotten to yet. I have lots to do this week, but I’m feeling more at peace and can stop and smell the roses or the bushes or the ferns or what-have-you.

Last night I watched a motion picture on DVD (the first in the new house) entitled Stage Fright, un film de Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. At the time of its release no one thought much of Stage Fright, but I’ve always been rather fond of it. It’s quite amusing at times (especially Marlene Dietrich’s constantly calling Jane Wyman different names), has a great Cole Porter song (The Laziest Girl In Town) and is very well directed. The transfer, as in this entire series from Warners, is excellent. I then began watching Mr. Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, which, as you may recall, I watched not too long ago. So, why am I watching it again? Well, I do love the film, but I just got the official Japanese Special Edition Region 2 DVD, which unlike the Criterion release, is anamorphic and looks swell. The downside is no English subtitles, but I’ve seen the film enough to know what they’re saying. The best thing is that without having to read subtitles all the time I can concentrate on Mr. Kurosawa’s wonderful visuals.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have boxes to open, CDs to put away and errands to run, not necessarily in that order.

I ate my first meal in the new house – two tuna sandwiches on low fat gram bread. Since I was so good, fat gram-wise, I decided to be bad and I bought some Rocky Road ice cream and had two small helpings of it. It was quite yummilicious.

Don’t forget, tonight is our Unseemly Live Chat at six o’clock Pacific Mean Daylight Savings Time. Be there or be round. Can someone please explain to me why when I’m merrily typing away the cursor suddenly jumps up to a different line all by itself without any prompting from me. I’m not pushing a button wrong or anything – it’s most annoying. Or, it will just suddenly jump to the top of the page and nuke a line – it just did that and it freaks me out. I just click “edit undo” but why does it happen, that’s what I want to know. Perhaps my keyboard is possessed. Perhaps my key… It just did it again. What in tarnation is going on? Perhaps my keyboard is giving me the gaslight treatment? Damn them, damn them all to hell.

Yes, I feel this keyboard is possessed. It is having sport with me. Next it will start to sound like Mercedes McCambridge. Then I shall have to perform an exorcism on the keyboard before it starts spewing forth green vomit.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must sally forth into my automobile and tool around the streets of the City of Studio. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your computer horror stories – the worst things that have ever happened whilst using your various and sundried computers? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, on this fine Monday in September.
