September 12, 2004:

THIS WILL BE A VERY NICE HOUSE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, our show last night was quite excellent, with a full house and a very vocal audience. All the numbers went well, the cast did well (some sloppiness, but I’ve come to accept it until we move the show or come back at a later date) and our replacement stage manager called the show and only missed one light cue, which is pretty amazing considering she’d only seen it once. She’s on her own tomorrow, then our regular stage manager is back with us for Thursday. I played the new song and everyone seemed to like it, especially Ryan, for whom it is intended. His song, late in the first act, has never really worked for me and he really doesn’t like it. We get away with it because it’s staged okay and he has a lot of energy and it has a good button, but I wrote him something that’s more suited to his personality, and it’s potentially a number that can grab the audience more. So, he promises me he’ll have it memorized by Monday, and we’ll rehearse Monday night and again on Wednesday and put it in for Thursday night’s show. We do have to do a complete re-light and our choreographers have to help with some specific dance moves that the song requires. I’ll talk a bit more about the song after I see it on its feet. After that, I think I only have to replace one more song, and then potentially add one more What If to the second act and I’m going to lock the show for now. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

My packers came back yesterday morning and boxed up the junk in the garage and a few more things in the house and we’re completely ready for the move. Also, the workers were back and finished a lot of the stuff on the front of the house and replacing two doors that needed replacing, and the Fence Man finished and did a great job. I walked down to house number two, the one I’d decided I had to take since we’d heard nothing from house number one and couldn’t get an answer out of them. I spent time looking around, and then we left it that he would get me a lease agreement. When I arrived at the theater my real estate agent called me to tell me that house number one had agreed to let me have it – finally! So, thanks to your excellent vibes and xylophones I shall be in the house I liked a bit better. Now I can put in my change-of-address form and tell everyone where I’m moving. And book Adelphia, Direct TV, and have the phone service transferred over there. I have to make all those arrangements on Monday, from the hotel.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because these notes are going up quite late, aren’t they?

I’m thinking we’ll do our Unseemly Live Chat tonight at six o’clock Pacific Mean Daylight Savings Time. Be there or be round. I don’t remember if Donald is back yet, hence I don’t remember if there will be a brand spanking new radio show up.

Let’s send our best and most excellent vibes and xylophones to Mr. Grant Geissman today, the day he will be attending the Emmy awards for his category. I know I’m sending mine.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must attend our matinee today, and I must pack for the hotel tomorrow and I must attend to things that need attending to. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to choose the topics of discussion and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings and I’ll see you all at chat. And that’s that.
