THE ANNIVERSARY WALTZ

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I can hardly believe it and yet I must for it is true. What can I hardly believe and yet I must for it is true? Well, I’ll tell you what I can hardly believe and yet I must for it is true for why should I keep such a thing from you dear readers? Today, oh, yes, today is the third anniversary of this here site. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, three years ago today haineshisway.com went “live”. That was the day we began our quest to be the most popular site on all the Internet, and I feel that soon we shall achieve that goal. Three years – and in that time we have dutifully written these here notes every single day (with the exception of the first couple of weekends). Yes, Virginia, every single day for three years. That is quite a feat or, at the very least, quite a feet. We have had some wonderfully wonderful times here, and we have even had the occasional tumultuous times (thanks to some bad people), but we have survived and will continue to survive, for this is, without question, the ginchiest site on all the Internet. I don’t think there’s a more interesting group of people anywhere, Internet-wise. Yes, people come, people go, like Grand Hotel, but new people show up and add lovely things to the mix. Plus we have our lurkers, those who hopefully enjoy the goings on here even if they choose not to partake of the postings. And, of course, we have some people who just come to check up on what we’re talking about – I think you know of whom I speak. I know it took awhile for people to get used to our new discussion board, but it works splendidly and gives us control over people who come to cause trouble – hence, they don’t come to cause trouble. They search, oh, yes, they search merrily and always for the same thing, these would-be troublemakers, but we care not and we laugh and laugh because we are having a marvelously marvelous time here at haineshiway.com and we will not allow their on-going and pointless negativity to taint or bother us. So, let’s put on our pointy party hats and colored tights and pantaloons, let’s break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, because today is a day for celebration and merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. I have been told many times by many people that this here site is addictive, and so it is, and that is because of you, dear readers, and our endless array of interesting postings and discourse. So, tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell the man in the street and the pussy in the alley that we are havin’ a partay all the livelong day and night. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

What fun we’ve had over these three years. Since the beginning of this here site I have somehow, in addition to my daily dose of drivel, managed to write four novels. I don’t know that I would have or could have done that had it not been for haineshisway.com. Having to deal with many bad things the first year-and-a-half, this here place kept me sane and safe from all alarms. So, today you must post your thoughts on all this and whatever else you like.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because the partay is just beginning.

And now, let us give some credit where credit is due: First, to Mr. Mark Bakalor, for making us such a beautiful website. It really is a pretty-looking place and easy as all get out to navigate. Next, to Mr. Donald Feltham for week in and week out delivering the most entertaining Broadway-themed radio show on all the Internet or anywhere else for that matter. Others have tried to copy us, but they are always and always will be the copiers. We also have had some wonderful interviews here at haineshisway.com, and for the newcomers I’d really recommend clicking on the Unseemly Interviews link on our home page and giving them a look-see or, at the very least, a see-look. We’ve had some fun times in our chat room, and we’ll be re-opening it very soon, in time for the holidays. I’m also hoping to resuscitate our Unseemly Interviews, but first I must have a tutorial in how to post them. That used to be done by someone else, but he doesn’t come around these here parts anymore. If anyone who is computer savvy would like to take on the formatting and posting of the interviews (I think it’s a fairly simple thing – I just send it as a word doc or e-mail, and it gets imported into some kind of template, which we already have), just drop me an e-mail. I also think it is time for the return of our Unseemly Trivia Contest and I do believe this Saturday will be the day.

Okay, it is now time for all of us to collectively shake our collective bootays. We must dance the Hora and the Swim, and the Hustle, and the Cha Cha, and the Carioca and the Tapioca for this partay is in full swing. In fact, I feel like an ice-skating gazelle eating corn nuts. I feel as corny as Kansas in August and high as a kite on the fourth of July. I feel like a winged bird reading Kafka whilst making lazy circles in the sky. What a day, fortune smiled and came my way, bringing posts I never thought I’d see, I’m so lucky to be me. Let us put on our lounging pyjamas and our smoking jackets and our cushy slippers whilst we sip our snifters of Diet Coke.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must find a few moments amidst the celebration to write a few pages, I must perhaps sup with my friend Mr. David Wechter, I must glitter and be gay and I must real all your excellent postings on this most festively festive day. Today’s topic of discussion: Even though we’ve done it before, let’s do it again for the newcomers and lurkers – tell us how you found us, tell us your favorite haineshisway.com memories, and today’s assignment for everyone is to write one post in the style of bk’s notes II. Let’s have loads of lovely postings as we partay on down.
