December 1, 2004:

A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I can hardly believe it and yet I must believe it for it is true. What can I hardly believe and yet must believe? Well, I’ll tell you what I can hardly believe and yet must believe for why should I keep such important information from you dear readers? It is December, the last month of 2004, that’s what I can hardly believe. It seems like only yesterday I was writing this same thing and yet that was one year ago. Well, time marches on. I wonder how on feels about always being marched by time? Well, it matters not, for it is December, a month of happy holidays and bountiful birthdays. It is a month of merriment and mirth and laughter and legs and we will be having a month-long partay to beat the band, I tell you. We will beat the band and the band will damn well like it. I actually must hurry these here notes along, for I have a very early meeting this morning (I mean early, like eight o’clock in the morning). I then have to hie myself to Tarzana, California, USA to finish up the dental work, and then I must return to the meeting for the rest of the afternoon. So, I shall be in absentia for a good part of the day, therefore you must all keep the home fries burning. Speaking of burning home fries, how about that posting frenzy last night? It was amazingly amazing and I feel that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet. In any case, let’s make this a December to remember. A December to Remember. What am I, Schmidt and Jones all of a sudden?

Yesterday I did all manner of things. I went here, I went there, I went everywhere. I did a little thisa and a little thata, with an emphasis on the latter. For example, I had a splendidly splendid luncheon with our very own Miss Tammy Minoff. I did some writing, and I did some phoning and then suddenly it was nine o’clock at night. I don’t know how that happened, but I was quite taken aback and even quite taken affront. Still, it was an enjoyably enjoyable day.

I’m getting quite excited about my trip, although I feel ill-prepared even though I’m quite prepared. I don’t really like to pack until the night before, and my car and hotel and flight are all booked, so I don’t know why I feel ill-prepared. I’ve chosen all my selections for Saturday’s reading. I do hope we have a nice-sized crowd there. I am bringing a Parisienne Cake for all to partake of. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, we will partake of cake.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because I must ready myself for my very early morning meeting on this first day of December -a December to remember.

Have I mentioned that we must make this a December to remember? We must, we must.

My goodness that was a short paragraph. Brusque, one might say. Actually, one is always saying brusque – that is one’s favorite word. It’s brusque – morning, noon, and night. These seem to be paragraphs without point, don’t you think? I think it is time for a paragraph of substance, don’t you? Unfortunately, I have no time to write such a paragraph. I want to, oh, yes, I want to, but I have no time on account of my very early morning meeting which, by the way (BTW, in Internet lingo), has not been confirmed. If I arrive and no one is waiting for me, I shall throw a hissy fit, oh, yes, I shall throw a hissy fit.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go to my very early morning meeting, I must go to the dentist, I must go to my afternoon meeting, I must drive home in my motor car, and I must find time to eat something after the Novocain wears off. I’m sure I will be most amusing at the afternoon portion of the meeting with my mouth all numb. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings as we begin our quest to make this a December to remember.
