THE WHIRLING DERVISH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I will soon be on my way to today’s book signing at The Mystery Bookstore in Westwood, California, USA. I do hope some of you dear readers and/or lurkers will be in attendance – it’s a wonderful store, and there will be a grand partay going on. I’ll be signing from eleven until one and will be giving out our limited edition CD with the book. After the signing I will be going to a Hanukkah partay at the Wechters home environment. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Yesterday, I just couldn’t get in a writing mode, so rather than force anything, I just sat around like so much fish and caught up on things that I needed to catch up on or, at the very least, things I needed to ketchup on. I got a nice big heavy box from my mail place and I’m very pleased with its contents. More I cannot say, oh, no, more I cannot say. My old pal Walter Willison (he of Two by Two and Grand Hotel) is in town and will be at the signing tomorrow. I have the feeling that the pace of the next two weeks is going to be frantic, what with writing, buying Christmas gifts, getting ready for my Christmas Eve do, and sending out Christmas cards and packages and whatnot. I shall be like a whirling dervish, whatever the hell that is. I shall be whirling about madly exactly like a dervish. Are there dervishes anymore or is the dervish extinct? If the dervish is extinct does that mean I am extinct, since I’m whirling about like a dervish gone mad? These are the questions that keep my mind awhirl, like a dervish.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, and lets all do so like the whirling dervishes we are.

Have I mentioned that I am a whirling dervish? Have I mentioned that I have a book signing this fine morning. Have I mentioned that it was like summer yesterday here in the City of Studio? Have I mentioned that I am now bored of this paragraph?

Now wait just a darned minute. I do believe that once again we’d better put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, we’d better break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, we’d better dance the Hora or the Black Bottom, because today is new dear reader Ginny’s birthday. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to new dear reader Ginny. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG BIRTHDAY CHEER TO NEW DEAR READER GINNY!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a book signing, I must attend a partay, I must do some errands, and I must, of course, whirl like a fershluganah dervish. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s time for our annual end-of-the-year roundup – so, let’s start with theater, since we’ve seen most of the shows we’re going to see for the year. So, what are your ten favorite plays and musicals that you’ve seen this year? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? And do keep the home fries burning.
