LIKE THE WIND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Friday, the end of another workweek and also the end of another weekwork. I must hurry and write these here notes like the wind, because she of the Evil Eye is coming today instead of tomorrow. Not only is she of the Evil Eye coming today, she is coming at eight o’clock in the morning. That’s a fine kettle of what is it, fish. Now, before I continue these here notes, let me just say that the WUSSBURGERING that has been going on on this site in the evenings is most unseemly. Especially after the record numbers of late-night denizens we’ve had all throughout the month of January. It isn’t as if everyone was off during the month of January and now must suddenly hie themselves to bed early. Let’s get with it, otherwise how will we ever become the most popular site on all the Internet? There, I’ve said it and I’m glad. I’m not CASTIGATING you, oh, no, I’m not CASTIGATING you. I’m merely saying that it’s ever so much more fun when we have our rather delirious late night craziness.

Last night, Mr. Nick Redman and I sallied forth like the wind to the Ridge of North, where we saw the Cinerama Adventure documentary. I’d seen it already, but Nick hadn’t. The projection was much better last night and so was the sound, so I’m glad I was able to catch it again. It really is a lovely piece of work, made with a great deal of passion and love by my pal Dave Strohmaier. After it was over, we went to Islands, where I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was ever so yummilicious.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon (like the wind) and I must get my beauty rest before her arrival.

I got a little note from cousin Dee Dee and Alan, asking me if I’d pass along some information to you dear readers. Sara Rue (who is a cousin of my cousin), the star of TV’s Less than Perfect, is in a short film that her husband Mischa has directed. Apparently it’s part of some online competition, and Sara and her hubs would like all of us to view it and then vote. Here is the information that was sent to me.

The film has been selected to participate in the Cinequestonline.org Viewer’s Voice Competition. (http://www.cinequestonline.org/2005/theater/viewers_voice.php)

The film will be available for online viewing for ONE WEEK ONLY, (Feb 9-15) during which time all registered Cinequest Online users will be able to vote for the film of their choice.

Please vote for the film, as the winner of the Viewer’s Voice competition will be guaranteed a spot in the upcoming Cinequest Film Festival.

The Cinequest Film Festival is an ACADEMY QUALIFIER. What this means is that if the film wins a major award at this festival, it becomes eligible for consideration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Yes, for an OSCAR!

So please, please show support and vote for the film. The steps to do this are easy.

1. GO to http://www.cinequestonline.org/2005/theater/viewers_voice.php

2. REGISTER with your email address. Have no fear, as this is a Spam free site. (If after you register it spits you back on the main page, click on “Viewers Voice Collection and Competition.”

3. You will see “BARBARA JEAN” listed under New Shorts.

4. WATCH the film. You can either watch the film with streaming video or download to your hard drive. I recommend downloading it for smoother viewing.

5. VOTE!!!! – Rate the film plus write a review. I encourage you to be as elaborate as you want.

You MUST download/view the film for your vote to count. The winning film is tabulated based on the number of votes/downloads each film gets.

That’s it. So, if you’re of a mind to, check it out. I know I will be. Sara is a terrific actress, and I’ve heard nice things about her hubs’s work.

I had a fascinating day of writing yesterday – one of those days spent fixing things I wasn’t happy with. The way to fix them came to me suddenly, and I wrote like the wind and am now much happier with those two sections. I will say that it appears that I am just about half-way through, which is a bit amazing to me. Of course, I have no real idea of the length the book will turn out to be, but it feels like I’m half-way now. This Sunday it will be four weeks since beginning the book. I just can’t believe it.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must write like the wind, I must do errands like the wind, I must drive about in my motor car like the wind, and then I must sup with Miss Tammy Minoff and friend, to discuss and give suggestions about a project they’re trying to write. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD and DVD/video player? I’ll start – car CD, the soundtrack to Swimming Pool and other Francois Ozun films, music by Philippe Rombi. Also, two rare Philippe Sarde soundtracks. House CD – the soundtrack to The Subterraneans by Mr. Andre Previn. DVD – next up is Jules Dassin’s Night and the City, to be followed by Charly, starring Mr. Cliff Robertson. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? In fact, you simply must post like the wind, because this is Wind Day here at haineshisway.com.
