OF CABBAGES AND KINGS OR TIME FLIES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, has it really been a week since I was in New York, New York? Time flies when you’re having fun. Have you ever timed flies? It’s very difficult – they’re always flitting about like a gazelle in cotton underpants. I feel we should all time some flies today and see which fly flits the fastest. I shall await your reports. Speaking of flies, I had an excellent lunch yesterday with my pal Mr. David Wechter. We spoke of many things, of cabbages and kings. I liked the part about cabbages better than the part about kings. After we spoke of cabbages and kings, we spoke of kings and cabbages. I had some sort of penne pasta with ground turkey. They say that ground turkey tastes just like ground beef but with many less calories. I didn’t find that it tasted anything like ground beef. I also had an excellent Caesar Salad with it. That was my meal o’ the day. I then had a lovely get-together with Mr. Kevin Spirtas and pianist Shelley Markham, and we played through quite a bit of music, so I could hear the arrangements he has. Next week we will start structuring the show, deciding exactly what will go where. Once that is done, we’ll start putting it on its feet, slowly but surely. It has to be fully done by the beginning of June. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. Then I came home to the good news that Guy Haines’ third duet partner has committed to the album – the very lovely and talented Miss Kerry Butler. We’ll be recording her duet in New York in early May. We will definitely be ready to record the majority of the vocals in mid-April, and the album should be ready for release probably in July. I have a nice title for the album, although Mr. Grant Geissman has asked me to do some serious thinking about Mr. Haines and myself, which I promised to do. So, all three duet partners are booked, and we’re getting close. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Last night I watched no DVD, but I did watch the latest episode of Alias, which I TIVOd. As I posted last night, I’ve grown really weary of the show this season. Last night’s episode was a “Nadia” episode, and I simply don’t care about that character. What makes Alias tick is plain and simple – Sydney Bristow as played by Jennifer Garner. She should never take a back seat in any episode and she really hasn’t until this season. I may just give up and tune it out. We shall see.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because we must speak of many things, most importantly those damnable cabbages and kings, not necessarily in that order.

I just timed some flies doing a triple lutz and they did it in 3.2 seconds. I think that may be close to a world record, flies-doing-a-triple-lutz-wise.

I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you read about flies doing a triple lutz? Nowhere, that’s where. Where else can you speak of cabbages and kings in the same breath? I like corned beef and cabbage with a king-sized Diet Coke. There, I’ve done my bit, cabbages and kings-wise.

Today I may just lunch with our very own Miss Tammy Minoff. Today I may just pick up some packages. Today I may just be seeing Miss Juliana A. Hansen in the early evening hours. Today I may speak of cabbages and kings to whomever I happen to be around. Today I may time some flies flitting about like a gazelle in underpants.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do all of the above-mentioned things, plus drive about in my motor car. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your DVD/video player and your CD player? I’ll start: Den DVD player, Anthony Mann’s marvelous western, Man of the West with Gary Cooper (region 2). Bedroom DVD player, Betty Boop cartoons (region 2), which I am really enjoying. CD player, several Academy promo CDs I’ve gotten recently, The Mad Show, and the soundtracks to The Thing, and Atlantis: The Lost Continent and The Power. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we. And really, let’s time some flies whilst they buzz about cabbages and kings.
