DAYS OF WANE AND ROSES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, once again a week has whizzed by and, as a matter of fact, another month has whizzed by, as we are in the waning days of July. So, we’ve had some whizzing and waning going on, haven’t we? Or have we had some waning and whizzing? I know not. I care not. I would just like things to slow down, just a bit. Let a week be a week, for God’s sake. Let a month be a month, not these abbreviated whizzing weeks, which cause waning days at ends of months. That was a sentence, wasn’t it? That was certainly a sentence. I’d like to sentence that sentence to eight years in Levenworth or, nine years in Twelveworth. In any case, enough is enough, as my close personal friends, Miss Barbra Streisand and Miss Donna Summer, once said. What in the HELL am I going on about? Oh, yes, whizzing and waning and whatnot. Yesterday, for example, was a day that whizzed by. I first had to pack up a bunch of stuff and get it ready for shipping. I then had to deliver the tape for baking. I then had to take the packages to the post office. I then had to hie myself to the Monica of Santa to see our very own Mr. Nick Redman’s new documentary, which he made for the new The Wild Bunch DVD. It was being screened in a qualifying run for the Academy Awards at the Monica Theater. It looked quite good on the big screen. Afterwards, we went to a tea shop and had little Brit sandwiches and such. I then had to hie myself to the Wood of West for a meeting, which went very quickly and very well. I then drove the motor car back to the Valley, picked up my mail, and then came back to the home environment, where I had to deal with a bunch of e-mail responses, and a bunch of phone calls. After that, I had to drive back to the bakery and pick up my freshly-baked tape, which will now hopefully be able to be transferred. I finally settled down at eight, ate some dinner, and started to watch Varan the Unbelievable, which I didn’t finish because Mr. Walter Willison came over to give me something he’d found in his storage environment. What he found was an ancient reel-to-reel tape – thankfully, it’s Scotch brand, which means it probably won’t have to be baked. I shall also have it transferred, and if it turns out to be what it purports to be, I shall tell you all about it. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

I have to get up very early this morning to finish a phone conversation I began yesterday. After that, I must shave and shower, take the baked tapes to the transfer place, and then drive the motor car over the hill to attend an auction. After the auction, I shall be lunching, and after the lunching, I shall be attending a surprise party for a birthday boy. At some point, I’ll have to get a gift. After all that whizzing, at some point the evening will be waning.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must arise early and have a telephonic conversation, which will hopefully be a good one with a good conclusion – all excellent vibes and xylophones appreciated.

These here notes have been whizzing by, haven’t they? And now they are waning. Yes, Virginia, they were whizzing and now they are waning.

Of course, tomorrow we shall be attending the Hollywood Collector’s Show with Pogue and Redman. I hope to see MBarnum whilst there. And I’ll be looking for Shirley Eaton. I hope we can all lunch whilst there. After that, I may have to go look at a theater, to see if it would be appropriate for the new play.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, whiz around our fair city, doing fair things, and then I must attend a surprise birthday partay, after which I must wane. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start: CD, Stages, the new song Opposites, and a late-fifties Keely Smith solo album with charts by Billy May – it’s great (a Japanese import). DVD, Varan the Unbelievable, and then Dogora, Monster from Space. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst the month finishes whizzing whilst we are in the waning days of the whizzing months. Perhaps during the waning days of the whizzing month we can stop and smell the roses. Yes, Virginia, we can have The Days of Wane and Roses.
