MACARONI AND CHEESE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Friday, the end of another work week. I ask you, where on all the Internet can you glean such informative information? Nowhere, that’s where. I ask you, where else can you glean words like glean? In any case, it is Friday, and another week has flown by, like a gazelle on Jet Blue. Soon the weekend will be upon us, and I, for one, shall be trying only to write and to relax and smell the coffee or the roses or the macaroni and cheese. Speaking of macaroni and cheese, yesterday was a very interesting day. First of all, I did not eat any macaroni and cheese – that in itself was very interesting, and also not very interesting at the same time. I started my day by having a fascinating meeting with two people from the Beverly Hills City Council. That was, for example, very interesting. Many things were discussed, none of them involving macaroni and cheese. I must say I have never seen such morning traffic on Coldwater Canyon as I experienced whilst driving to the Hills of Beverly. A fifteen minute ride took forty-five minutes, which was completely ridiculous. After the ninety minute meeting, I came back to the home environment and made some telephonic calls and answered some e-mails. I also sat outside in the sunshine and did some work. I then picked up one package from dear reader Kerry – a CD which I’m looking forward to hearing. I also had a few Kritzerland orders, which I’ll be shipping out today. I did some errands, and then I toddled off to sup with our very own Pogue. We had a divoon dinner, with plenty of witty and charming conversation, including some wonderful bon mots about macaroni and cheese. What is all this macaroni and cheese stuff? I seem to have glommed on to macaroni and cheese, haven’t I? Macaroni and cheese seems to have become the raison d’ete of these here notes. After I arrived home from dinner I got the news that if we want it we have a theater for our play. I’d still like to look at a couple of others before committing, because I’d still like to open a week or two earlier than we’ll be able to if we take this theater.

Last night, I continued watching a few episodes of Dragnet 1967. I must say, I didn’t love these back in 1967, but I’m sure enjoying them now. A few of the episodes are so good that they actually take me aback, which, I suppose is better than them taking me afront or aside. Plus, once again there were some faboo shots of LA circa 1967, including a wonderful drive down Wilshire Blvd. near La Brea. I really like the interplay between Jack Webb and Harry Morgan – it’s fun to watch it develop over the course of the season. In the first few episodes they haven’t quite found it, but then it kicks in and it’s just so much fun to watch them play off each other. The transfers are very nice, considering their vintage and considering they were shot quickly.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve got things to do, places to go, people to see, and macaroni and cheese to ponder.

Is August vacation month? I have left several messages for cast members of Stages and Together Again, and no one is calling back, which I find both rude and odd, not necessarily in that order. But, then I heard that August is vacation month, so that might explain it. Or, perhaps they’re all busy eating macaroni and cheese.

Today I must once again continue the search for cast members, and I must do some banking, I must pick up some packages which are way overdue, and I must go look at another theater in North Hollywood. After that, I must sup and then I must figure out an Unseemly Trivia Contest question to baffle and confound, not necessarily in that order.

I had a nice chat with Miss Kasey Rogers yesterday. For those who might not be aware, Miss Kasey Rogers used to go under the name Laura Elliot, and Laura Elliot played the one and only Mrs. Guy Haines in Strangers on a Train. She’s had some severe health problems of late, but she’s doing much better now, and it was fun to chat.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go hither and thither and perhaps even yon, I must write, I must drive about in my motor car, and I must do things and stuff. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – I can’t say what’s in my CD player without giving certain things away, and next up in the DVD player will be a couple of the Thin Man movies. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we all ponder the true meaning of macaroni and cheese and all that it implies.
