WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what a day I had yesterday. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, what a day I had yesterday. It was non-stop and it was, for the most part, quite wonderfully wonderful. So, let me dive right in and tell you all about it. First, I had breakfast with my friend, then she went off and spent the rest of the day with her bother, who flew in to attend the LACC party. I then headed over to Santa Monica, where I hung out at the book fair for a while. It was a pretty good fair as fairs go. I may, in fact, go back this very day. But, I’m getting ahead of myself, which is, I suppose, better than getting afoot of myself. I then went over to Roxbury Park and attended the reunion of my sixth grade class. There were a lot of people from the class, and it was fun seeing some of them again. We did a reunion like this ten years ago, and it was interesting to see the changes in people. I’m told that I have not changed one or even two iotas, and I chose to believe it. I had a couple of really nice conversations with people, and I was very touched by some of the comments from folks who’ve read the Kritzer books. I also saw one of my very first early crushes – Miss Janice Verity, and let me tell you, she looked swell. We’d e-mailed each other a few times over the last couple of years, but we’d never managed to get together. So, that was the highlight of the reunion. I then headed back to the Valley, where I picked up the deli platters, and then several packages that finally had arrived. I then headed over to LACC to set up for the party.

The head of the department, Mr. Fred Fate, was very helpful and had already set up the tables and the bar, and he printed up lots of little posters featuring the album cover. We set up the deli platters and all the drinks, brought a CD player in so we could endlessly repeat the Stages CD, and then, promptly at seven, people began to arrive. First, I must say that of all the launch parties I’ve either thrown or attended, this was the best and most fun of them all. It was so great to see some of the cast members after all these years. I took quite a few photographs, which I will upload later today and post for your viewing pleasure. Some of the guests: Miss Barbara Deutsch, her son, Sam Lembeck, and his girlfriend, Natalie. The great Buddy Bregman. David Del Valle. Our very own Pogue and Nick Redman. From the production of Stages – Linden Waddell, M’Lisa MacLaren, Michael Byers (so great to see him again), Micheal Goodrow (musical director), and Marc Wanamaker (drummer). From the production of Together Again – Debbie Tilton, Marsha Kramer, Joan Ryan, Rob Bowers (musical director). Promised to be there, but no-shows were Randi Kallan, Jeffrey Kramer, Murphy Cross, and Jeff Maxwell. I would have thought that for something like this they would have somehow managed to show up, or at least have had the courtesy to call and say that they wouldn’t, in fact, be there. Sammy Williams had to suddenly go out of town, but he called and told me, and Penny Peyser was also busy. M’Lisa’s daughter Caitlin, who sings on the Stages bonus track, was there, too. I introduced everyone to the crowd. Also in attendance – Tammy Minoff and her mum, Susan, my friend Lada, several LACC alums, several current students at LACC, and several spouses. The general manager of the El Portal brought his family, and announced to the room that they should all come and see our new play come January. I know I’m forgetting some folks, but I’m writing these here notes while barely being able to keep my eyes open. There were probably sixty people there, maybe more. Everyone got a Stages CD, and the whole affair was simply sparkling. The deli platters were decimated, as were all the drinks. All in all, a wonderful, wonderful day. What am I, Jane Powell all of a sudden?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must shortly take my friend to the airport so that she can wing her way from whence she came.

After the partay, about ten of us went up to the House of Pies to have some, you guessed it, pie. That was really fun as well.

Today I may go back to the book fair for a bit, but then I’ll be relaxing at the home environment, and my plan is to perhaps finish my short story and then watch a DVD or three. I’ve got another busy little week upcoming – with lots of meetings, lots of things to be attended to, and lots of shipping to be done.

Mark your calendars for tomorrow. Set your TIVO machines to record Days Of Our Lives, for our very own Mr. Kevin Spirtas will be singing his CD single and you will find out what it’s all about.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go to the airport, I must do various and sundried things, and then I must sit on my couch like so much fish. Today’s topic of discussion: I’m too brain dead to think of a topic, so let’s have a free-for-all day, where you dear readers make with the topic and we all get to post about it. So, really, pull your weight and come up with some terrific topics and let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we?
