MOVING RIGHT ALONG

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, once again it is Friday and another week has sped by like a gazelle wearing too much bling. I hate when the gazelle wears too much bling, it’s just so gaudy. And now I must write these notes in a hurry because I it is quite late in the evening and they should, in fact, already be posted. So, these here notes will be quite concise and to the point, not necessarily in that order.

There, wasn’t that the shortest opening paragraph in the history of these here notes? Moving right along – may I just mention that I purposely let yesterday go by without mentioning that it was the four year anniversary of Black Saturday. I just didn’t feel like bringing it up, but I’m just mentioning it in passing. More importantly, in just a week or two we will be celebrating the creation of haineshisway.com, and we will be having a huge partay in honor of that event. We will be going into our fifth year, which I find absolutely astonishing. But more about that when the actual event happens.

Moving right along – yesterday, I had a non-stop day, filled with meetings and phone calls and doing and going and going and doing and lunching and dinnering and visiting and all manner of other ings. For example, in the morning I awoke and got out of bed. I always count that as a major victory. I then wrote for a while, then had to do errands and whatnot. Then, Vinnie and I went over to the El Portal and figured out where we’d be for the recording of the show, and all of those kinds of details. We then had a bite to eat, and then I came back to the home environment and was on the phone for hours dealing with this upcoming recording for the new show at the Ahmanson. I spoke to the musical director and the show’s contractor, I spoke to the engineer who’ll be doing the gig with me, and was happy to learn that we got the studio that I wanted. I also found a replacement for my assistant for the next few days, so that’s good. I then had a really good dinner meeting with my musical director for the LACC show, and we figured out some scheduling things, and discussed the various numbers for the show. I then came home, and got involved in several other long conversations, which is why I must keep these here notes moving right along.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below in the interest of moving right along.

Today I must have a lunch with our very own Mr. Mark Rothman (at our usual Todai), and then must run to rehearsal with Mr. Kevin Spirtas. After that, I must run home to get ready to attend opening night at the Pasadena Playhouse – some play called Open Window. So, it’s a nice full day, but I hope to get some writing done in the morning. I have the feeling that this story that I’m working on will be at least as long as the longest story I’ve done, and maybe a few pages longer – but, you never know. I haven’t decided on how to end it yet, and I’m sure that will present itself to me at the right moment.

Last night I started to watch a documentary entitled Mad Hot Ballroom, about fifth and sixth grade students entering a ballroom competition. I’m only ten minutes in, so I’ll have a full report on Saturday. I’m going to try and do an Unseemly Trivia Contest for Saturday, but I may not have time to figure one out. We shall wee. We shall “wee?” How close “s” and “w” are on the keyboard, and what a difference a “w” makes. In any case, we shall wee if I get to the contest or not. Moving right along.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must write, I must do errands, I must lunch, I must rehearse, and I must make myself dashing for the opening night of the Pasadena Playhouse. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, the newly released and expanded soundtracks to Westworld and Coma, which will be followed by the newly released soundtrack to Lili. DVD, Mad Hot Ballroom, to be followed by a spaghetti western and more Val Lewton. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s keep moving right along.
