PROCRASTINATING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I will admit it – I have been procrastinating. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I have been procrastinating about writing these here notes. I’ve been doing everything BUT writing these here notes. I call that procrastinating, don’t you? So, I am starting these here notes late, and now I am up against the beating clock. The beating clock tick tocks away like a gazelle in fishnet stockings and a garter belt. Tick tock, tick tock. All that ticking is giving me tics. All that tocking is giving me tocs. In any case, I have been procrastinating and now I must procrastinate no more or these here notes will not be up on time. Time. The beating clock tick tocks away like a gazelle in fishnet stockings and a garter belt. Tick tock, tick tock, goes the clock. Where was I? Oh, yes, I’d better get on with these fershluganah notes. Yesterday, for example, I did not procrastinate. No, I was active, and I did things, and the day flew by like a gazelle on a bi-plane. I did this and I did that, not necessarily in that or this order. I had a lovely rehearsal with Mr. Kevin Spirtas who, despite his resting his voice, was excellent. After the rehearsal, I had to do several errands, and then I picked up some early copies of new DVDs, including Darling Lili, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, Save the Tiger, the region 1 pressings of the three Sabata spaghetti westerns, and The Escape Artist, a film I’ve never seen but have always wanted to see. I’ll be perusing those titles over the weekend. I then had my second call from the Music Center, and it looks like I’ll be doing a little something for them regarding The Drowsy Chaperone – a little recording that has to get made. I’m looking forward to it. I spent the rest of the day trying to coordinate all these live recordings that are upcoming – Kevin’s and a couple of others. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Last night I began watching a motion picture on DVD entitled Darling Lili. I’ve only seen the film once, and that was a very long time ago. The transfer is very sharp, but to my eye, the color is a bit on the brown side. I’m not sure anyone will really notice it, since the colors SEEM fine, but you can see it in the sky – it should be vivid IB Technicolor blue and it’s more of a pastel blue. The skin tones are too brown, as well. It’s minor, but I’ve only seen an IB Tech print before, and that’s what I base these comments on. I can point out other transfers that are done correctly, and if you look at the blue sky you’ll see exactly what I mean. This is the “director’s cut,” which, instead of being longer, is quite a bit shorter. For whatever reasons, Mr. Blake Edwards decided he liked the film shorn of about twenty or more minutes. All the cut scenes are included as extras. I’ll have a more full report when I finish watching.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below. Let us not procrastinate further.

Today I’ll be attending a rehearsal with Kevin. We have a choreographer with us, to help really set a few things that need to be more definite, and while I can give movement and give ideas for steps, I am most certainly not a choreographer, dance-wise. After that, I shall be attending what promises to be a very ritzy affair – a surprise birthday bash for Mr. Terry Trotter’s 65th birthday, which is taking place at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I shall wear whatever nice clothing that is hanging in the closet that I can actually fit into. There’s a cocktail hour, and dinner will be served. I will, of course, have a full report for you upon my returning.

The Last Starfighter is now officially up for preorder, so do check out the soundclips and photographs at www.kritzerland.com. And tell them bruce-o sent you. We got a few orders yesterday, which was lovely.

It is sometimes sheer insanity trying to keep thing straight. Therefore, I keep things askew when I cannot keep them straight. I have to make certain that I write everything down as meetings are set, dinners are set, appointments are set. And I must check my iCalendar every single morning before I do anything. I am always worried about forgetting to add things to my iCalendar, because if I don’t put them there, I forget everything.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must try to write a page or three, I must get some more music out of storage, I must rehearse for a couple of hours, I must watch a DVD or three, and I must attend a ritzy bash. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the ritziest bash you have ever been to? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and even though it is a Saturday, let’s not have any procrastinating.
