PLU PLU

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am of the opinion that today is Thursday. I am of this opinion because yesterday was Wednesday, and unless someone somewhere has done some serious shaking up, day-wise, then I think I am safe to be of the opinion that today is Thursday. Yesterday (which I’m of the opinion was Wednesday), we had a perfectly perfect anniversary here at haineshisway.com. It was, in fact, pluperfect, whatever the HELL that is. Okay, I just looked up pluperfect, and I used it correctly whilst having no clew if I was using it correctly. It means “better than perfect.” I am happy to know that perfect is not the highest we can strive for. I am happy to know that the ultimate perfection is pluperfection. So, I’m of the opinion that if we now add a “plu” to any word it will mean “better than.” For example, pluhappy – better than happy. Plurich – better than rich. Plu plu – better than better. Isn’t that just plu plu? You know, if anyone has a clew as to what the plu I’m talking about, pluse keep it to yourself. Speaking of plu, yesterday was a pluglorious day. I woke up – that was plu of me. I then did a ton of music Xeroxing, did some shipping, picked up no count them no packages, and then drove over the hill to pick up yet more music from our pal, Mr. Rick Starr, over at Hollywood Sheet Music. O yjrm jrsfrf pbrt yp – now wait just a darned minute – you see what happens when your fingers shift one letter to the right on the keyboard? I meant to write, I then headed over to but it came out O yjrm jrsfrf pbrt yp. I’m actually preferring the latter to the former, aren’t you? One is passé, and one is new and fresh and plu plu. I especially like the word jrsfrf. Where was I? Oh, yes, I headed over to LACC for our first rehearsal. Our musical director, Rob Bowers, was there, which was very helpful. The first nice thing is that I was provided with a very nice assistant, who will be with me for all the blocking sessions, taking notes and notating the blocking. Her name is Svetlana, who is not Russian, but Armenian, and a very pretty Armenian at that. In fact, she is plupretty, and very bright, too. I played everyone the opening number, which I penned especially for the show. I’m happy to say that the reaction to it was really nice. Rob then taught them the notes, and then I played it again, while they sang through it, and it was really fun to finally hear it sung out loud. It’s basically made up of three verses, each with different music to the same harmonic pattern, then, after a brief bridge, all three verses are sung in counterpoint – and I can now report that all three verses fit together perfectly. I think it’s really going to be a fun number, and I’ll be staging it on Monday. We then taught them the act one finale, which is the act one finale from my musical of The Comedy of Errors, Things Are So Strange. That, too, was fun to hear with everyone singing it – it’s been over thirty years since we did the show. That number we’ll stage next Wednesday, and then that will be the two big numbers out of the way. We’re going to start rehearsing the duets and solo numbers next week as well. The floor has been taped out, so I know where each component of the set will be. I’m looking forward to getting this stuff up on its feet. I then came home and finally ate some food and sat on my couch like so much fish, whilst listening to the pitter-patter and also the patter-pitter of raindrops falling on my roof. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just plu plu?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because there’s more plu coming in the next section – unless, that is, you’ve had your plu shot.

Today I have many things to do, and I’m hoping all of them will be plu. For example, I must pack up some CDs and ship them out to various and sundried people and stores. I must pick up a package or four. I must attend our second casting session for the play. And then, I must attend a meeting this evening, which I’m thinking will be very interesting. I received a phone call the other day and tonight is the meeting regarding that phone call – that’s all I can say at the moment, other than I got an e-mail today about the same subject from someone entirely different. If any of it works out, it will be a very good thing, I think. If that’s not enigmatic I don’t know what is. In fact, it’s pluenigmatic.

I have been lax, dear readers. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I, BK, have been lax. When I’m lax I like to eat lox, but I haven’t even been doing that. I’m ready to stop being lax, frankly. I’m ready to be ex-lax. I have been very lax as far as my diet is concerned. In fact, my diet has been going the wrong way, so as of today I am back on track and will lose a minimum of ten pounds in the next two to three weeks. And I’m not kiddin’ around.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, get a spot of writing done, I must ship, I must cast, I must eat reasonably, and I must drive about in my motor car whilst pondering all that is plu. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite items of jewelry that you own – men and women’s. What are your favorite gemstones? And what are your favorite perfumes (women) and colognes (men)? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s make them plu plu.
