THE SEVEN MINUTE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have seven minutes to write these here notes. Can I write these here notes in seven minutes (well, actually the laptop clock and the haineshisway.com clock are not in synch, so I really have ten minutes to write these here notes), or will I not be up to the task. For example, I’ve already wasted one valuable minute writing the drivel above. In any case, I shall endeavor to write these here notes in seven minutes so I can post them and then try to get a good night’s sleep. I actually do not have to get up early tomorrow – my first appointment of the day is at noon. Yesterday, for example, I had a very long and busy day, but got a lot done. The day began with the musical theater workshop (MTW), which was lots of fun and everyone had a splendidly splendid time. After that, I picked up the STAGE benefit tapes, then delivered all the VHS Doodlebop tapes back to Disney, then picked up some packages (with some faboo DVDs), and then I ate a bit of lunch. After lunch, I finished a few pages of the musical, and finished writing the first song of act two (after a brief reprise of the opening number). Then I got a barrage of e-mails from Disney, and it seems someone made a little error and I now have to go back in and do some adjustments on the spots on Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s a good think I actually delivered them three days early. I’m always amazed at this sort of thing from a major company, but I gather it happens all the time. After dealing with all that, I went off to the theater and attended a blah performance of the play. Tonight will be better. After the show, several of us went out to eat, and that was fun.

Well, I’ve used up five of my seven minutes and I shan’t make getting the notes up at midnight. So much for the seven minute notes and my getting to bed early. Oh, well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I want to get these here notes up in a timely fashion (bell bottoms, spike heels, and a shirt with fringe).

Today I shall be working with Miss Linda Purl all day, getting her show ready for its debut tomorrow night. We have a lot to do and little time to do it in. This morning I must print out our script and pencil in my suggested light cues, so that I can just hand that to the lighting guy tomorrow afternoon when we arrive for our rehearsal. After Linda’s rehearsal, I shall go to the theater to work on a few things before tonight’s rehearsal.

In the mail yesterday I got region 2 DVDs of The Incredible Shrinking Man, Two Rode Together, a French film called Innocence, which I’ve heard is interesting, and the new UK DVD of Godzilla, which is supposed to be superb. There are a few other region 2 releases I have to order now. I’m in the midst of watching a fascination region 2 DVD of Nicholas Ray’s The Savage Innocents, about the Eskimo way of life. I’ll have much to say about the film as soon as I finish watching it.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, rehearse, I must try to write a page or two, I must attend a performance of the play, and I must find time to nibble on some foodstuff or other. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, FJL’s ever-lovin’ Skip’s brilliant show, Time and Again, which I can never get enough of (some of the best theater songs of the last two decades). DVD, next up, The Incredible Shrinking Man, which I’m really looking forward to. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? Well, the seven minute notes only took fifteen minutes to write. Remind me not to try to make a one minute egg.
