VAMPING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Saturday, and I don’t have to do a darned thing all the livelong day. Oh, I may end up doing a darned thing or two, but only if I feel like it. If I don’t feel like it, then I shan’t do a darned thing. I might decide to do half a darned thing, but only if I feel like it. What we’re doing here, of course, is vamping. We are vamping because I don’t have a clew as to what the HELL I should talk about. And so I am vamping. I am saying the same thing over and over, changing a word here and there, but basically that is what vamping is. At some point, a thought will come into my head and then I will be able to stop vamping and continue the notes in a lucid fashion (purple spandex pants and a glitter blouse). Lu Cid was, of course, the sequel to El Cid. Perhaps if I talk about yesterday then I’ll be able to stop vamping. For example, yesterday I had very few things to do and yet I did quite a few things. For example, I wrote quite a bit of the new musical comedy – that took up a few hours. I didn’t receive any packages today, so my trip to the mail place was quite brief. Then I wrote some more – in fact, I wrote right up until the time I left to go to the theater. Last night’s performance was our last until next Friday, and a very good performance it was. We had one of our liveliest audiences – loads of lovely laughs in all the right places, and thoroughly involved in the play from start to finish. Several audience members sought me out afterwards and said lovely things, including one mystery novelist who absolutely loved the play. There, you see, I am no longer vamping until ready.

Last night I watched no motion picture on DVD, but I did watch the Jerry Lewis episode of The Dick Cavett Show, which was fun. Tonight I think I’ll watch either the Mel Brooks show or the Carol Burnett show.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must now vamp until ready, when the next section comes bob bob bobbin’ along.

I really hope I sleep in in the morning. I need my beauty sleep and I need it bad. Then I shall putter around the home environment for a while, then I shall go ship a package or three, then I shall watch a DVD or three, all the while relaxing.

As you all know, tomorrow is our annual haineshisway.com Oscar Bash. This is the place to be on Oscar night – where we post ad nauseum and have riotous comments on everything from fashion faux pas to bad presenter dialogue, best and worst acceptance speeches and whatever else comes to mind. The fur flies fast and free and you simply must be here and partake of the fun – it is the liveliest place on all the Internet.

Prior to the Oscars, I think I’m seeing the East West Players production of Sweeney Todd – of course I’ll have a full report for you. I may not get back until just before the Oscarcast commences but you can be sure I won’t be late. So, if I’m not here for the pre-show obnoxiousness, I will, of course, expect detailed reports from you dear readers.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, write, ship, view, and then sup. Today’s topic of discussion: Who do you think will win what Oscar. Give us all your predictions, and then we can all see how well you did. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s have no more vamping because frankly I am vamped out.
