THUS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, thus begins another week. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, thus begins another week. I’m already overtired and the week has just begun. I’m overtired just thinking about the week. And, frankly, the week is overtired just thinking about me. Thank goodness that yesterday I did manage to get some rest and relaxation (R&R, in Internet lingo). I managed to get a good night’s sleep again, and then I got up and puttered around the house, then went off to have a brunch with dear reader Hisaka. After brunch, I had to have a little meeting with friend Jim Brewer, which was quick and easy. He regaled me with tales of pettiness and insecurity, which I did find quite amusing. These tales had to do with a certain record label and its employee and a show at the Gardenia, to which I’d been invited (by the father of the performer) and then uninvited (due to said employee of said label). The fact that this would have happened, after I’d done this performer a huge favor, is fairly astonishing, although I certainly don’t blame the father or the performer. Frankly, I find all the pettiness rather silly, pointless, and a waste of time and energy, but if that’s the way some people choose to live, then that’s the way some people choose to live. I mean, if I felt like reciprocating, pettiness-wise, I could undo the huge favor and cause the performer a good deal of grief. But, I like the performer and I will continue to take the high road, and I wish the performer nothing but the best. And since we know the gentleman who caused this little problem reads these here notes every day, may I just say to him: Shame on you. You must have better things to do with your life than act this way. But enough about that. After Jim left, I wrote a bit, then sat down and watched the video of Deceit and made notes about what pickups need to be used where. Hopefully we’ll have everything we need. I then wrote another two pages, and other than that, I did nothing whatsoever.

Last night I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled The Black Belly Of The Tarantula, an Eyetalian giallo from 1971, I believe. These films never quite live up to their peculiar and wonderful titles, and they’re all quite silly, but I find them immensely entertaining because they are quite weird and outrĂ©, and frequently very stylish. The Black Belly Of The Tarantula seems to be considered one of the very best giallos, but I found it a bit tiresome. It does have the distinction of having three James Bond girls in its cast, so that’s a plus. And the score by Ennio Morricone is great. The transfer is excellent – I watched the dubbed version because the Eyetalian version had very weird and unpleasant sound. And besides, these films were always dubbed when shown in the United States of America. I have two more giallos to watch, and I’m looking forward to them.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because the week is already getting away from me and it hasn’t even started yet. Damn them, damn them all to hell.

Have I mentioned that thus begins another week? Not only does thus begin another week, but so do I. Today, for example, I must have a final meal with Hisaka before she returns to far-off Japan – I’m not sure whether said meal will have to be during the day or in the evening – I’m waiting to hear from my editor as to whether we’ll be working tonight. I must also ship out some packages, pick up some packages, and I must continue writing the play. I wanted to do between five and ten pages over the weekend and I ended up doing seven, so that’s not too bad. By the end of today, I should be on page forty, not bad for starting this thing a mere week-and-a-half ago. I also have several telephonic calls to return and return them I will. Thus spake I.

I don’t know about anyone else, but yesterday my allergies were in high gear. I’m hoping that they will go away soon because the allergies really irritate me and cause me to be irritable. And I don’t want to be dragged down by them, especially when we read the second act of the musical on Tuesday morning.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, stay on top of things so that I don’t fall behind and become discombobulated or, at the very least, discomgeorgeulated. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite perfumes and colognes? And what are your favorite scents? And what are your favorite cents? And what are your favorite sense? Thus, let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we?
