ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE, ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, she of the Evil Eye will not be here today, so maybe, just maybe, I’ll get a good night’s sleep and can just lounge around the home environment. That would be most pleasantly pleasant, I must say. I had a most frustrating day yesterday, but I cannot remember why. I know the following: I got up. I spent several hours finishing a new song for the musical. I got a haircut. I went to LACC for a rehearsal wherein two-thirds of the people who said they’d be there, weren’t. Love that. I blocked about twenty pages of scenes. Those who were there went over some music. I was going to tape the new song for the person who’s going to sing it, but I didn’t bring the paper with the notes on it, and I didn’t want to teach it incorrectly. I drove home during rush hour. I ate a little sushi (shrimp, and vegetable something-or-other). I went to Staples and Xeroxed some scripts for the play. I tried to watch a DVD (unsuccessfully – too antsy). I went out and got a large salad, which I ate all up. I’m so angry at not having lost a pound this past week (after jogging every single day and eating very reasonable amounts of food), that I decided to just splurge and the hell with the consequences. I’m sure I’ll gain a pound, or, as irony would have it, maybe I’ll actually lose a pound. All in all, I felt great frustration from the afternoon on, and I don’t really know why. Call it a general malaise or, at the very least, a corporal malaise.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that the staged reading of the new musical will not be what I want it to be. There simply isn’t enough time and the school is being very uncooperative and treating us like we’re some afterthought or addendum. I’m pretty annoyed about it, actually, and if they’re seriously asking me to come back and do this again (and they are) there will have to be some real ground rules this time – and in writing. We’ll be lucky to have all of it on its feet and, frankly, if it doesn’t flow or look good, I’ll have everyone sit and just read it, which would be awful.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly this entire section is frustrating me with all its infernal frustration.

Today I must begin the daunting task of writing chord charts for all the music in the musical. As you can imagine, I’m really thrilled to have to do this all weekend. But do it I must, and I’ll be a good soldier about it.

I feel that negative things have been bombarding me for several weeks and as of this very day I’m putting a stop to letting them get to me. I normally never let negative things get to me, but for whatever reasons, the last few weeks have just been very difficult. And I’m done with it. Every negative will now be discarded or turned into a positive, without exception, oh, yes, without exception. I’m going to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative and the devil take the hindmost. Damn them, damn them all to hell.

I may try to do something later today or tonight, just to take a break from writing those infernal chord charts. Maybe I’ll eat a nice meal, maybe I’ll take a nice drive, or maybe I’ll go jogging or maybe take a long walk (but not off a short pier).

Quick! Let’s put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s dance the Hora or the old-fashioned waltz, for today is the birthday of La Jolie Femme, otherwise known as Julieanne Pogue. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to La Jolie Femme otherwise known as Julieanne Pogue. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO LA JOLIE FEMME OTHERWISE KNOWN AS JULIEANNE POGUE!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative, I must do chord charts, I must jog, I must eat, I must try to do something fun, and I must give a play script to an old pal, who will be hand delivering it to the fellow who runs a theater here in the Valley. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite love songs – the songs that set you swooning, or the songs that inspired grand romance in you and your loved one. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I once again accentuate the positive.
