FOR ALL YOU MOTHERS OUT THERE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Sunday, a day of rest and relaxation and also relaxation and rest. And that is what I intend to do for most of the day, since I didn’t get any yesterday. However, today is also a holiday – a little holiday we like to call Mother’s Day. So, for all you Mothers out there, this is your day, baby, so revel in it. Eat brunch, make people pamper you, and do whatever you wish to do. Since I am not personally a Mother, I will not eat brunch, I will not make people pamper me, and I will not do whatever I wish to do, since I do have to use part of the day to finish up some leftover work from yesterday. Yesterday, for example, I worked non-stop from morning until early evening, doing chord charts for the musical. After formatting all the lyrics, I took them to Staples on a disc and had them printed out. I then began work, but had to go very slowly so that I didn’t get sloppy. The next thing I knew it was close to two o’clock, so I took a break and went to the postal office, did some food shopping at Trader Joe’s, then came back home and continued the chord charts. The next thing I knew it was six o’clock. I took a shower, and then I had a visitor for a couple of hours, someone I hadn’t spent any time with for several years – it was nice to catch up. Then, I actually did some more work, finally began watching the Guys and Dolls DVD, and then began writing these here notes. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Yesterday, I did manage to watch the latest episode of The Sopranos and I must say it was fairly boring and the show has simply lost its uniqueness and spark. The season has had some okay stuff, but most of it has been forced and just not very interesting.

Why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because frankly I must go out amongst them and wish every Mother I see a happy Mother’s Day.

Today I shall be a Mother to whoever calls or writes me. I shall also finish the three songs I still have left to do. I must also rearrange two scenes in act two of the musical, which will require a tiny bit of new dialogue. Then I have to enter some corrections and little fixes, then I’ll have to print up new scripts so that every cast member has the most current version.

Tomorrow, I will be spending all afternoon with the musical director of my show. We’ll be taping each song, talking through it, and checking the music to make sure he understands everything I want. So, I won’t be at LACC for the afternoon rehearsal – I’ll just have my assistant grab whoever she can to run whatever they can. Then the rest of the week I’ll be doing nothing but getting the show ready for its Sunday night performance. If any hainsies/kimlets in the LA area would like to attend one of the two performances, just drop me an e-mail and let me know. That goes for lurkers, too. And Mothers. We’d like to see a bunch of Mothers at the show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be a Mother, I must finish the bit of work I have left, I must have rest and relaxation, and I must really watch a DVD or three, as I’m very behind in my DVD viewing. I must also resume jogging (I took two days off, after seven straight days), and I must eat a reasonable meal, and maybe even try to meet up with dear reader Pogue, who’s in town for a week. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics, and we all get to make with the posts about the topics. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings and here’s hoping the day is lovely for all you Mothers out there.
