HEY PANCHO, HEY CISCO

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, or mi amigos, it is the most festive South of the border day, Cinco de Mayo. Not Cinco de Mustard, mind you, or even Cinco de Ketchup, no it is Cinco de Mayo. So, let us all but on our serapes and sombreros and say, ay Chihuahua and let us eat tacos y tamales y burritos y taquitos and let us dance the Mexican Square Dance or, at the very least, the Polish Rectangle Dance. What a festively festive day we shall have here at plaza haineshisway.com. I, for one, will be putting Mayo on everything I eat today. Yesterday was not all that festive, frankly, although it was a damn sight better than the day before and the day before that. My day began with an extra long musical theater workshop (MTW), in which the students had to do an audition number. That was fun, and then we ran the two big musical numbers we’ve staged, and that was fun, too. After that, I had to come home and deal with stuff around the home environment, and then I had a late luncheon and then I headed over to the editing room to do my little list of nitpicky fixes. Those went swimmingly, but trying to get them cut into our existing master was a nightmare and I finally left – if they weren’t going to be able to do it, then they were going to have to re-output the entire show to a new digi-beta. Hopefully, they’ll still be able to make my DVD copies by noon tomorrow. We shall see. I really want to be done with this project and I’m hoping that once I get my anamorphic DVD that I can approve it, and then Monday night Matt and I will do our commentary track and that will be that and the master and the commentary track can go to the DVD authoring guy. I was so tired when I finally got home that I almost fell asleep on the way to the couch, where I sat like so much fish.

Mucho gusto. Me llamo BK. Que hora es? Como esta usted? Frijoles muerte. I have now exhausted my entire knowledge of the Spanish language. Speaking of exhausted – I am.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst we all contemplate our various and sundried tamales and say, “Hey Pancho, hey Cisco.”

Why, do you know that on Cinco de Mayo in 1975 that we began shooting The First Nudie Musical? Why, do you know that on Cinco de Mayo in 1981 that we began shooting The Creature Wasn’t Nice? Isn’t that a coincidence? Isn’t that serendipity? Today I shall be shooting nothing whatsoever, but I will be hopefully picking up two DVDs of Deceit, and I shall perhaps be lunching in the early afternoon, and I shall perhaps go to LACC this very evening to see their production of Moon Over Buffalo. I shall also have to ship out several things today, that I’ve let slide because I simply haven’t been in the mood to ship. Also, Miss Jessica Rush is coming by to learn one of my little songs. That I’ll enjoy.

I forgot the guacamole? That was a close call. If one forgets the guacamole, then the whole Cinco de Mayo vibe goes right into the toilet.

Now wait just a darned minute – not only is it Cinco de Mayo, our festively festive South of the border holiday, but it is also a dear reader’s birthday, so let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the jalapeno cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Mexican Hat Dance because today is dear reader George’s birthday. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday ole to dear reader George. On the count of tres: Uno, dos, tres – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY OLE TO DEAR READER GEORGE!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, celebrate Cinco de Mayo, I must say hola and adios muchacho, I must pick up DVDs, I must lunch, and perhaps I must see Moon Over Buffalo. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, a live home-grown CD of Miss Jessica Skerrit’s cabaret show she did in her hometown. DVD, Atragon. Your turn. Let’s have mucho lovely postings, shall we, and at some point, let’s all take a siesta together.
