OLD MAN RIVER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, old man river, he just keeps rolling along. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, old man river, he just keeps rolling along, and so does old man BK. Old man BK feels just like old man river these days – they both just keep rolling along. Well, we’re off to a fine start, are we not? These here notes are just rolling along, just like old man river and old man BK. I wonder who else is rolling along? Speaking of rolling along, yesterday, for example, just rolled along in a sort of aimless fashion (low jeans, a thong, and cowboy boots). I awoke at nine after a pretty good night’s sleep. I then packaged up some items and had a two-hour telephonic conversation. I then went out and shipped the packages. I then came back and jogged in an aimless fashion (shorts and a T-shirt), and then had some nauseating Buffalo wings from Koo Koo Roo. I don’t know what’s happened to that jernt, but I shan’t be returning because it has really gone downhill. After that, I headed over to the editing room, where Matt Ashford and I did a commentary track for the Deceit DVD. What fun it was, too – we were very loose, some of it is very amusing, some of it is very informative, and all of it is very frank re the actor we let go, re the LA critics, and re every aspect of the play. The time just flew by, frankly, and like old man river and old man BK, we just kept rolling along. After that, I came directly home, had another long telephonic conversation, had a Look candy bar, and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I did manage to watch one count them one motion picture on DVD entitled 100 Rifles, starring Mr. Jim Brown, Miss Raquel Welch, and Mr. Burt Reynolds. What an odd little film it is, too. I like the director, Tom Gries, but the script just goes from event to event without much oomph, despite some pumped-up action scenes. And Mr. Brown is not exactly exuding star quality. The film does boast a rousing score from Jerry Goldsmith, and the transfer is excellent (although there is one long sequence that is very grainy because it is one long optical where they put in a lot of dust into a scene). Certainly, it has some enjoyable moments, but as a whole, it just doesn’t come off.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because these here notes must, at all costs, keep on rolling along like old man river and old man BK.

Have I mentioned that old man river just keeps rolling along? Doesn’t old man river ever get bored of just rolling along? Wouldn’t old man river like to do something else for once?

Today, I must do a two-hour musical theater workshop (MTW), and must try to stage quite a bit of act one of our musical. After that, I’ll be picking up the latest DVDs of Deceit to proof – one standard 4.3 letterboxed version, and one anamorphic version. I’ll compare and contrast, and see which one is more pleasing to the eye, ear, nose, and throat. And then, if I never have to see this fershluganah video again for at least a month, that will be a good thing. After that, I have to finish the discussion began on the telephonic device yesterday, this time in person. We’ll see how everything plays out – I’m trying to keep my mind in an open place, but several things have to happen for me to change paths. We’ll see what transpires, and I’ll have more to say about it at that time, oh, yes, I’ll have more to say about it at that time.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a class, pick up DVDs, watch DVDs, eat something amusing and reasonable and then have a long conversation, after which I may watch a DVD. Today’s topic of discussion: In honor of old man river, what are your favorite boating stories – I mean, your personal experiences on boats? Let’s hear all about boating today. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and like old man river and old man BK, let’s just keep rolling along.
