REDISCOVERING FRUIT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have rediscovered fruit. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I, BK, have rediscovered fruit. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you read such a sentence as “I have rediscovered fruit?” Well, I can think of a couple of places, but let’s not go there. In any case, for the last few days, instead of eating no fat gram candies like licorice or gummies or whatever, I have taken to buying precut pineapple and preballed melon balls. Preballed Melon Balls – that’s the title of my next novel. And I have been loving said fruit more than said candies. It’s quite refreshing, and quite yummilicious and quite healthy and non-caloric. I may branch out and try other fruits, like say apples or red seedless grapes, just for a change of pace. I think I’ll let those things become a staple of my diet, because it’s good for me and won’t put any weight on me. I’ve been eating quite a few staples on my diet, but, you know, they’re a little hard to digest, these staples – while they may be fine for holding papers together, they sometimes stick in your throat and cause all manner of problems. Speaking of staples, yesterday I did not go to Staples, but rather just lounged around the home environment. Oh, I did do a few errands (like purchasing said precut pineapple and preballed melon balls), and I did have a nice jog (my 12th day in a row – may have to take a break at some point), but mostly I sat on my couch like so much fish, snoozing and watching a DVD. In the afternoon, Mr. Matthew Ashford came by and we discussed matters of business, and then he saw the Deceit DVD packaging and liked it very much. And that was basically my day – it wasn’t much, but what there was was cherce.

Yesterday, I actually only managed to watch one count them one motion picture on DVD – since I’m in my John Ford Phase, I watched a region 2 DVD of Two Rode Together. It’s not one of his best films, but I do like the interplay between James Stewart and Richard Widmark (it seems like they’re improvising a lot), and Shirley Jones is lovely. But the thing just lumbers along and then ends. It does feature a nice George Duning score, and the transfer has nice color, but it’s overly grainy. I think I’ll take a break from Ford right now – perhaps I’ll watch some Chevrolet. I’ve actually begun watching Yasujiro Ozu’s Tokyo Story, which I’m enjoying very much.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly I’ve rediscovered fruit and I have a hankering to eat some right now – unfortunately, I have finished all the fruit that I bought and shall have to buy some more.

We had some wonderful postings on yesterday’s topic of discussion, so if you missed any of the merriment and mirth and laughter and legs, then do check it out.

Today, I shall eat some fruit. Well, actually that depends on what sort of foodstuffs will be at the brunch I’m attending at the home of composer John Scott. I’ve been to brunches at his home environment before, and I don’t think I eat much at said brunches – so, if I jog in the morning and I’m good at the brunch, then I may just buy a bunch of fruit and wolf it down whilst sitting on my couch like so much fish. Mr. Scott always has interesting folks at his brunches – I do know that our very own Mr. Nick Redman will be there.

After the brunch, I shall come back home and finish watching a DVD and then perhaps I shall watch another DVD or perhaps I’ll be adventurous and take a drive somewhere. For tomorrow is a holiday, you see, so it gives me yet one more day to relax and by Tuesday I should be all recharged and rarin’ to go.

Even though he is only an occasional dear reader and poster, we would like to wish dear reader Arnold Brockman a very happy haineshisway.com birthday cheer. On the count of three: One, two, three – A VERY HAPPY HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OCCASIONAL DEAR READER AND POSTER ARNOLD BROCKMAN.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, brunch, watch, relax, and snooze. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, and perhaps some of you dear readers will join me in rediscovering fruit.
