QUITE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is quite late and I am quite tired and so I quite better write these here notes, and I do hope there aren’t any typos or slips of fingers because we do know how that upsets one of our more-than-pedantic lurkers. And so, I am now quite ready to quite right the notes. Now, you see, I was so tired I used “right” instead of “write.” What a third grade mistake that is. I shall now go stand in the corner and flog myself like Judge Turpin. Speaking of Judge Turpin, yesterday ended up being quite a busy little day and evening. Why am I using the word “quite” so much? Quite this and quite that – that is just a little too much quite, if you ask me. In any case, I got up early and did some stuff around the home environment. Then I toddled off to an early morning meeting at LACC, the purpose of which was to discuss the possibility of doing a full production of The Brain. We all talked about it quite a bit, and then I left. I really wasn’t certain at all which way the decision would go, but a couple of hours later I was delighted to get a call from the head of the department saying we’d be opening in December (which means will be playing our show on my birthday – I always enjoy that). I think it’s really going to be fun, and I’m very appreciative that we’re able to do it, and look forward to working with everyone on the staff and faculty. The most interesting news is that we’ll be doing the show in the big theater, which means I’m going to have to rethink certain gags, but I love a challenge like that and I think in some ways the big theater will make things easier. I do hope some of you hainsies/kimlets will make your way to LA to see it. After that good news, I went off to the editing room to finish the Kevin Spirtas DVD. We were hoping to finesse everything, but we only got a third of the way into act two before we had to quit. I spent a lot of time recutting the first few numbers of act one, and then we had to fix some stuff that wasn’t working at all. So, we’re going to try and finish this evening – I think we have about three or four more hours of work, but that includes doing the two title sequences, too. After that, I got a couple of cheeseburgers, then went out with a friend for dessert, hence the lateness of the notes. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because it is quite the thing to do when one has nothing else to say in this section.

Today, I must ship out several packages that didn’t get shipped out yesterday. I must buy a new wallet. I must make several telephonic calls. And I must begin to get the word out about the summer cabaret series, which is now just under five weeks away. I do hope some of you hainsies/kimlets can attend all or some of the shows, as it’s going to be a lot of fun. Later today, I shall go to the editing room and hopefully finish the Kevin Spirtas DVD. I was going to attend some gallery opening with Miss Cindy Williams, but I have to finish this editing.

I guess I can give a little scoop to you loyal hainsies/kimlets – the DVD release of Flower Drum Song is finally coming. There will be a commentary track and some sort of featurette with some interviews. Remember, you heard it here first.

We had another pretty respectable day of Deceit the DVD orders. If we can just keep up with today’s pace for another week or so, I shall be very happy.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do all of the above and more, and I must eat very reasonably today and I must jog briskly, just to make sure that all the crap I ate yesterday doesn’t have any effect. Today’s topic of discussion: What are our favorite malaprops, our favorite mangling of the English language – whether misused words or phrases or sayings? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? Quite.
