SPEED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, how can it be Friday when it was just Monday? That is frightening. This week sped by like a gazelle with a hot foot and a hangover. Speaking of a gazelle with a hot foot and a hangover, I had a very busy day yesterday, what with waking up, packing up CDs, shipping said CDs, jogging like a maniac, and then finishing the editing of the Kevin Spirtas DVD. I now have to watch it start to finish to make sure I’m truly happy with everything, then Kevin will watch to make sure he’s happy, then we’ll put the main and end titles on it and we’ll be done – I think we’ll try to release it in late August. I also managed to begin writing and finish another song for dear reader PennyO’s show. What I haven’t done is make arrangements to replace my union cards and the various other cards I lost when my wallet was stolen. I must do that, perhaps today, more likely on Monday. After editing, I got a Chicken Caesar salad and came home, where I sat on my couch like so much fish, happily stuffing my face. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Last night, I finally managed to watch a motion picture on DVD entitled The Beast Must Die, a wretched little film from Amicus Studios, the low-rent competitor to Hammer Films. The film stars Calvin Lockhart, who’s not very good, and Peter Cushing, who’s always fine, but to no avail in this stinkeroo. It’s all about a party of people – one of them being a werewolf. There’s an amusing William Castle-esque prologue, telling the audience that they are the sleuths and that there will be a werewolf break while they figure out who it could be. Of course, when it came time for said werewolf break there was none. Did they think we’d forget? The transfer is decent, but the movie is not.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because with how fast time is flying, it’ll probably be Monday when I post these here notes.

Today I hope to be able to catch up on some things around the home environment, as well as maybe toddle off to the editing room to approve some fonts for our credits. Other than that, I really have no plans, although I’m quite certain that some things will come up. Oh, yes, now I remember – I have to leave this morning to go join Mr. Kevin Spirtas’ taping of Soap Talk or whatever show he’s doing at the old Prospect Studios in Hollywood. I completely forgot until right now. I’m supposed to be there by about ten-thirty and I’m bringing some CDs to sell. After he tapes, I’m taking him to the Burbank Airport so he can fly back to Vegas for his final weekend of Hairspray shows. Glad I remembered.

I think I also have things to do this weekend, but I don’t really have a clew as to what they might be. I hope I remember at some point.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do whatever needs doing, I must proof a CD, I must re-proof the latest version of the Deceit DVD, and all that jazz. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, Jerry Goldsmith’s The Flim-Flam Man, and act one of the San Francisco Sondheim benefit. DVD, the Bette Davis documentary hosted by Jodie Foster that’s an extra on the Baby Jane DVD. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and maybe we’ll have a nice slow weekend. And don’t forget – Sunday evening is our annual haineshisway.com Tony partay. This is the place to be, baby, and we’ll have more details in tomorrow’s notes.
