PUT ON YOUR SUNDAY CLOTHES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Sunday. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information? Nowhere, that’s where. In any case, it is Sunday and I, for one, have nothing to do all the livelong day and night. That is my kind of Sunday. If I feel like getting all dolled up and taking the air, then by gum and by golly and buy bonds, I shall. Of course, if I take the air then what will everyone else do for air? That would be most unseemly. Why, if I took the air that would result in dead people everywhere, for without air all life would cease to exist as we know it. Of course, I could then look around me and say, “I see dead people.” But, since everyone would be dead, no one would appreciate the joke. You know, if anyone has a clew as to what the HELL I’m talking about, do let us know. Where was I? Oh, yes – if I feel like getting all dolled up and taking the air, then I shall do so, and the devil take the hindmost. If I feel like sitting on my couch like so much fish, then I shall do so. If I feel like having a fine meal somewhere, then I shall do so. If I feel like driving about in my motor car, then I shall do so. If I feel like shouting to the four winds then I shall do so. In fact, I may shout to the six winds if I’m feeling contrary. Speaking of four winds, yesterday was a day in which there wasn’t even one wind. There was just heat, baby, heat. Happily, I didn’t have to be out of the house too much. Oh, I did some errands and jogged, but mostly I sat on my couch like so much air conditioned fish.

Last night, I joined up with Miss Barbara Deutsch, her friend (and mine), Alison (who has a new baby growing in her tummy), and Alison’s lovelier than lovely mum – we were attending Miss Joan Ryan’s show at Sterling’s Upstairs at Vitello’s, a new cabaret room in a little city we like to call North Hollywood. Vitello’s is, of course, rather noted for its connection to Mr. Robert Blake. But, the new room is very nice and the show was enjoyable. The food was tasty but the portions were extremely small. A good time was had by all. Frankly, I didn’t know all was going to be there – but all was there and all had a good time. After the show, we all schmoozed a bit, then I came home, where I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched more episodes of Perry Mason, including one with a very young Miss Barbara Eden.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because I’m thinking of getting all dolled up and taking the air. Yes, Virginia, perhaps that’s what we all should do – put on your Sunday clothes – after all, if you put on your Sunday clothes there’s lots of world out there. What am I, Dolly Gallagher Levi all of a sudden? Or maybe I’m just Gallagher all of a sudden.

How many of you will be getting all dolled up and taking the air? How many of you will be sitting on your respective couches like so much fish? How many of you will be playing Parchesi or CandyLand? How many of you will be dancing to the music of Wayne King? How many of you will be roasting a wiener and having corn-on-the-cob? How many of you will be doing the Texas Two-Step or the New Jersey Shuffle? How many of you know what the HELL I’m going on about?

Today, I will be taking a pad of paper outside so that I can write my notes for the new book. I told my muse Margaret the idea of the book and I must say she was quite taken with it. So, I shall do a few pages of notes, and then I shall continue writing in earnest.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, write, take the air, put back the air, get all dolled up in my Sunday clothes and get out the Brilliantine and Dime Cigars. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post our fascinating thoughts on said topics. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we?
