YE NEWE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s yet another installment of Ye Olde Notes. Actually, wouldn’t it be more correct to say that it’s yet another installment of Ye Newe Notes? Olde notes are previous notes, while current notes are Newe notes. In any case, here we are with another installment of Ye Newe Notes. Well, we certainly beat that into the ground, didn’t we? Right now I’m in need of healing fingers on my aching back. But do I have healing fingers on my aching back? Nooooo, there are no healing fingers on my aching back. And why is my back aching, you might ask, and I might tell you for why should I withhold such information from you dear readers? My back is aching because I single-handedly addressed almost 100 shipping labels yesterday. But, said shipping labels are now addressed and attached to their packages, along with almost 100 delivery confirmation slips. That was how I spent most of yesterday. I got no writing done (I’m probably not going to resume writing on the new book until I get Ye Olde Computer back), I only left the home environment twice, once to jog, and once to get a Fed Ex package. The Fed Ex package was amazingly amazing – it came from our new/old friend, Jeanne, and it was jam-packed or, at the very least, jelly-packed with photographs. There were quite a few photographs of the teenage Jeanne and she looked just as I remembered – adorable and quite the looker. There was a current photograph and she looked quite lovely in that one. And then there were the photographs of she and I, on the occasion when I took her to her prom. I cannot tell you how odd it was to see those photographs. There we were, Jeanne in a beautiful dress with a little stole and me in a suit and tie and hair. We looked impossibly cute together. I really had no memory of the event, but seeing the photographs I now sort of recall it. She also sent me two photographs which I apparently sent her back then – of me in my Stop The World pants (those who’ve read Kritzer Time know whereof I speak – those who haven’t – need I say more?). That was totally weird. All the livelong day I waited for word on the impending arrival of the DVDs, but I finally had to leave at six-thirty to sup with our very own Rodzinski and TPunk at Musso and Frank. I brought along said photographs to the dinner and showed them, and they thought Jeanne was a babellicious babe, then and now. We had a ton of fun, and TPunk looked beautiful, as always. Tales were told, food was consumed, and the whole affair was lively and sparkling. Rodzinski came bearing gifts, too – he gave me an LP of Dino At The Piano (very exciting) and a DVD of a movie he likes. We took photographs, which I’ll upload and post, perhaps even directly after posting these here Ye Newe Notes.

Last night, I watched a couple more Perry Mason episodes. Some of them are fun, some aren’t – these shows were not aired in the order they were shot, so the really early ones (spread throughout the season) you can see everyone trying to find their sea legs, while the later ones are smoother and more fun. All the early episodes are pedestrian in their direction. In fact, there are only a handful of well-directed shows, and they’re all directed by Ted Post and Laslo Benedek (he directed The Wild One). The transfers are very nice.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have to put a lot of DVDs into a lot of packages and get them all shipped out.

Today is DVD day. A friend is coming over to help put the DVDs into the envelopes and then help get them to Ye Olde Post Office for shipping out. I’m hoping we’ll get them all on their way no later than two o’clock. I must say, the packaging looks very nice and professional. For anyone whose still thinking about getting one, we have about ten signed copies left, so don’t procrastinate – when those are gone, that’s it for signed copies. The DVD will also be available at amazon and a few other online places.

Today, I also have to pick up the Kevin Spirtas master to give to our DVD authoring guy. We hope to have it up for preorder, maybe by the weekend – if not, right at the beginning of the week. We’ll do the same thing – the first 100 people to order will get signed copies of the DVD.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, ship DVDs, pick up a package or three, eat reasonably, and get ready for a busy end of week and weekend. Today’s topic of discussion: Who are your all-time favorite TV detectives and do you recall favorite episodes? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst Ye Newe Notes come to a close and by this time tomorrow Ye Newe Notes shall be Ye Olde Notes.
