I’M FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, sometimes song titles just pop into my head at the oddest moments. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you read such a sentence as “sometimes song titles just pop into my head at the oddest moment?” Nowhere, that’s where. As I was about to begin typing these here notes, here is the song title that popped into my head like a gazelle eating chunky peanut butter: I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles. Now, why on Earth would that song title pop into my head like a gazelle eating chunky peanut butter. I cannot wrap my mind around it, frankly, or even georgely. I mean, have you ever thought about this – some people, according to the old song, are forever blowing bubbles whilst some people, according to the old song, are always chasing rainbows. Of course, if we make it a medley, then some people can blow bubbles and chase rainbows at the same time, should they be so inclined. And, of course, some people can get a thrill, knitting sweaters and sitting still. I don’t know what the HELL I’m talking about but that’s not going to stop me, I’m just going to continue until someone sends me a peanut butter pie. Here’s another confounding song title: Yes, We Have No Bananas. I also like, Dinner For One Please, James. How many of you are currently humming I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles? I know I am. Speaking of blowing Bubbles, yesterday bubbled right along. For example, I got up. That was a bubbly thing to do. I then put my back pain aside and jogged which, of course, helped the back pain, which is now almost all gone. I then had to go to a lunch meeting at a Thai restaurant. It was a very interesting meeting and it could lead to some very interesting things that might be an offshoot of our cabaret series. Nothing to talk about right now, but you, of course, will be the first to know when there is something to talk about. After the lunch, I toddled over to LACC and had some callbacks. I think all three directors of shows are going to attempt to finalize the casting today or tomorrow. I then came home and sat on my couch like so much fish, and then I had to answer many e-mails, along with returning a few telephonic calls. After that, I had dinner with Mr. David Wechter’s mother, Cissy. After that, I came home and didn’t do much of anything, other than suddenly think of I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.

Last night, I watched no count them no motion pictures on DVD. Oh, I tried – I watched a teeny bit of Firecreek from the James Stewart box set, but I couldn’t get motivated to finish it. I then watched a bit more of a movie I’d TIVOd entitled The Money Trap, starring the recently late Glenn Ford. But, I couldn’t get motivated to finish it. I then watched the first fifteen minutes of Don Siegel’s Charley Varrick, which I’d also TIVOd, but I couldn’t get motivated to finish it.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below whilst we all do a chorus of I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.

Might I just ask how it can already be Wednesday? Or, conversely, how Wednesday can already be it? I’d now like to sing the title song from Vertigo:

Up to the heights,
Down to the depths,
You give me vertigo…

I kid you not, dear readers, that is a real “inspired by” song that I have the sheet music for. It’s not a classic like I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles, but it does have a certain vertiginous quality, doesn’t it?

Today, I shall be having a certain vertiginous quality myself. I must do a spot of writing, but most importantly I must address many envelopes in preparation for CDs hopefully arriving by Friday afternoon. I must also attend a casting meeting at some point in the afternoon to discuss casting, which is always a good thing to discuss at a casting meeting.

Well, dar readers, I must… Dar readers? DAR readers? I tell you, my eyes are still bleary from all that proofing. Where was I? Oh, yes – Well, dar readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, write, meet, address envelopes, at something interesting, and then perhaps even watch a DVD. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. But since we have very few questions these days, we’ll also have the following topic – what are your favorite wacky song titles? Hold nothing back. Let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely wacky song titles as we all rousingly sing, I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.
