YE OLDE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am getting to Ye Olde Notes quite late, so I must write like a gazelle doing the hundred-yard dash in a leisure suit. So, let me cut right to the chase or, at the very least, let me chase right to the cut. Yesterday was BUSY. Holy moley on rye was yesterday busy. I spent the entire early morning getting the sound clips for the Emily and Alice CD to the web designer (they’re up and running now, should you care to hear them), then had to jog, then had to do errands. I must say the first day’s preorders are very heartening, and I’d really have to say that it’s going to be our biggest preorder ever – so, keep ’em coming. Finally, I toddled off to LACC for rehearsal. I spent the first three hours of rehearsal doing scene work, mostly with Kevin and Lauren. We’ve been struggling a bit to find the exact tone I want, and I’m happy to say that yesterday we were getting very close. Everyone took a dinner break and then we began our evening run-through. We got through it pretty much without stopping, but it’s still herky-jerky and I’m being very tough about getting it not to be. We did insert some of the incidental music, and that was rough, too. Afterwards, I had a very long note session, and then I finally got something to eat with several of our cast members. All in all, it was a good rehearsal, albeit a bit sloppy, but that’s why we’re doing these runs as much as we can, because that’s how the show gets smoother and smoother. After dinner, I finally came home and didn’t even have a chance to sit on my couch like so much fish, as I had to dive into Ye Olde Notes.

Last night, I did not watch a motion picture on DVD, but I have been watching episodes of This Is Your Life every night. I must say that these episodes are mesmerizing, and I must also say I have never seen a smarmier TV host than Ralph Edwards. He’s so embarrassing, whether being all “caring” when discussing a celebrity’s dead child (Lou Costello), or calling Roy Rogers “boy” four hundred times during a thirty-minute show. I’ve watched about eight episodes so far, with my favorites being Laurel and Hardy, Lou Costello, and Shirley Jones.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it’s late and I’ve got to get Ye Olde Notes posted before I fall asleep at the keyboard.

Today, I must do the shipping I didn’t do yesterday, and I must also have a conversation with our very own Mr. Nick Redman so that we can have a plan for my little appearance tomorrow. I also have errands to do, and then we do a designer run-through at six, after working scenes for a couple of hours.

Keep those preorders coming in – it helps me know how many CDs to order. And if anyone would like to come to Ye Olde Home Environment and rub my weary shoulders and feet, feel free.

I have quite a few motion pictures on DVD to catch up with – including the new Forbidden Planet DVD, and the Paul Newman Box Set – first up in the latter will, of course, be Harper. I only wish The Prize was in the set.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, do errands, rehearse, do a run-through, and drive about in my motor car. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, whilst I now hurriedly get Ye Olde Notes posted.
