IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere I go I see Christmas lights and Christmas decorations, hence it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I simply cannot believe that The Brain From Planet X only plays three count them three more performances. It’s odd to work so hard and only to have this short a run. But, it’s been grand fun and I’m sure it will continue to be grand fun right through closing night tomorrow. But, I’m getting ahead of myself, which is better than getting aelbow of myself. I’m beginning to get into the Christmas spirit (no mean feat) and I’m beginning to spread Christmas cheer like a gazelle with a heat rash. Speaking of a gazelle with a heat rash, yesterday was quite a fun little day. I don’t really remember why, however. For example, I woke up – that was fun. I then had to drag my tired and weary butt cheeks to the postal office to ship a plethora of packages. After that, I did a few errands, had some lunch, answered some e-mails, made some telephonic calls, and finally headed over to LACC for last night’s performance. I met up with Cason – just what up was doing with Cason is anyone’s guess, but I digress. Cason and I went backstage to try to figure out a new bit with the door to the spaceship – he slid the door the wrong way and we both thought that was most amusing. Unfortunately, the door didn’t think it was amusing and became stuck. Stuck, as in wouldn’t close, wouldn’t work, wouldn’t cooperate. Well, that was a fine kettle of what is it, fish. Our crack crew had to come in and help. We have a wonderful crack crew – among them, the lovelier than lovely Megan, Nathan, and Anthony. They had to take part of the unit apart, and then the shop lady, Deena came in, and between them they got it working again. That is why having a crack crew is a good thing – they get the job done.

We had a nice-sized audience, and they were most enthusiastic. The show went very well, was very smooth, and despite a few performance hiccups, I felt it was our best show thus far. The sound mix was back to being excellent, and all the scene shifts were perfect, thanks to our hard-working actors, and our crack crew. I don’t mean to imply, of course, that our crew is on crack, oh, no, I do not mean to imply our crew is on crack just because they are a crack crew. Our friend Rick Starr from Hollywood Sheet Music was there, as was our very own Mr. Nick Redman, our friend Julie Kirgo, and I knew several other folks in the audience. After the show, a few of us went out to House of Pies, where we had various and sundried foodstuffs. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and I, in fact, will shortly be picking up my Christmas cards, which I then have to address and get mailed.

Today, as I said, I shall be sending out Christmas cards, after which I shall be attending the evening performance of The Brain From Planet X. The gentleman who’ll be taping Saturday’s performances will be there to scope out the situation. Once he has scoped out the situation, perhaps he’ll Listerine out the situation, as well.

And then, tomorrow we play our final two performances, which will both be videotaped. And then we go into the recording studio to record, which is sort of what you should do in a recording studio. And after that, I have the rest of the year to relax, clear my tired brain, and get ready to greet the New Year and the kids show project I’ll be directing for the entire month of January. Also in January, I start back in prepping the two one-person shows I’ll be directing for Miss Alet Taylor and Miss Joan Ryan, both of which I’m really looking forward to.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, ship a few packages, address Christmas cards, send Christmas cards, pick up a package or three and then attend a performance of The Brain. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, various soundtracks. DVD, den player, Michael Powell’s incredible film, Peeping Tom, bedroom player, Jacques Demy’s incredible film, Les Parapluis de Cherbourg. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, because, after all, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
