SHARON MCNIGHT’S NUTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, is Jack Frost nipping at your nose? Are chestnuts roasting on an open fire? Are stomachnuts roasting on a closed fire? I’ve got Christmas on the brain, don’t I? In fact, I’ve got The Brain From Planet X on the brain, too. In any case, Jack Frost has been nipping at my nose and I, for one, have had it. I’m going to have to have strong words with Jack Frost because I don’t want him or anyone else nipping at my nose or any other body parts. And let me tell you I’m not roasting any chestnuts on an open or closed fire. But, I’m happy to say that I have Sharon McNight’s nuts. Yes, Virginia, I have Sharon McNight’s nuts. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you read such a sentence? Nowhere, that’s where. Here’s how I came to have Sharon McNight’s nuts: The lovelier than lovely Miss McNight was at our opening night. She hadn’t been aware it was also my birthday, and she promised me she’d give me some of her home grown almonds, which she’d brought over one fine Christmas Eve. So, last night at the show, a friend of hers gave me Sharon McNight’s nuts. Sharon McNight’s Nuts – that’s the title of my next novel. It has a certain ring to it, doesn’t it? A certain zing, a certain thing. But, why am I talking about Sharon McNight’s Nuts when I could be telling you about yesterday and all it entailed? One thing yesterday entailed was my arising. I arose and having arisen, I jogged speedily. After jogging speedily, I did some errands speedily, after which I came home and did many things around the home environment. After doing many things, I then toddled off to LACC for last evening’s performance. Despite a dire prediction of an audience of forty people, we had close to 100 and they were a wonderfully wonderful audience. The show played very well, there were huge laughs throughout, the actors did great, as did the band, and the sound, while not perfect, was not bad, either. I had several friends in the audience this evening, and one of them, Gary Stockdale, was called on for our little act two audience participation bit – he was hilarious and the audience just ate it up. All in all, it was a very pleasing evening. Afterwards, a few of us went to House of Pies for a small repast. After that, I came home and sat in front of my laptop like so much fish, pondering Sharon McNight’s Nuts.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I must get my beauty sleep.

Today, I must toddle off to LACC at eleven to oversee the video people setting up. As it turns out, we could only tape one performance, and I opted for the matinee, since I know in advance there will be at least one hundred people there and it will be a fairly young crowd. I’m looking forward to it, and if we have to do any pickups at the end (hopefully we won’t), we’ll do them directly after the show, after which we’ll do a Q&A with a large group of high school students. After that, we play our final performance of this run, and hopefully we’ll have a nice crowd for it.

After the evening show, I think we’re doing a little cast party in the smaller theater, with pizza and soft drinks. After that, we may go elsewhere to continue our celebration.

Tomorrow, I shall do absolutely nothing, except perhaps watch DVDs and maybe nibble on Sharon McNight’s Nuts. It will be a day of rest for me, which I will need. On Monday, I must ship out the last of the packages before Kritzerland goes on vacation until after January 1st, and then I get two glorious weeks off before beginning rehearsals for the kids show project.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog (if there’s time), set up for the video shoot, attend the matinee, attend the evening performance, attend the cast partay, and then come home and sit on my couch like so much fish. Today’s topic of discussion: Truman Capote had his Christmas Memory – what is your all-time favorite or most important Christmas Memory? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we?
