ELLIPSES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers… Well, dear readers… I guess I must just dive in and write these here notes, but then I have to deal with the stuff that’s been on hold since Friday and I know it’s going to be misery, but I shall do what I can, and the rest is in the hands of fate, or in the hands of Orlac, or in the hands of Manos. It would be ever so much easier to just keep doing this… an endless series of ellipses, then I could keep postponing having to deal with anything. But, one must do what one must do or, to put it another way, one must do what one must do. Or, I could just do this… Ellipses, baby, that’s what I’M talkin’ about. Speaking of ellipses, yesterday was a wonderful day and the junk that I have to deal with today should I get past the ellipses, was far from the windmills of my mind. I woke up at nine and jogged for the first time in a week. After answering some e-mails and doing some work, I toddled over to the theater for the final performance (of this run) for The Party Animals Live. I gave the cast the little change for the end of the show, and then the audience began arriving. It was a madhouse – we were completely sold out, with every seat taken. It was a great audience and a great way to go out. The show went beautifully from start to finish, and the little cut I made in the ending worked really well and got us over an awkward hump. It was so much fun to watch the kids, who were bopping up and down and dancing and screaming and laughing and cheering. My friend Lee was there with her kids, and my friend M’Lisa was there with her hubby Kevin, and their beautiful thirteen-year-old daughter, Shannon. Miss Barbara Deutsch was there, as was our friend Allison, her hubs Bob, and their two kids. I don’t think there’s any other way to look at what happened this weekend as anything other than an unqualified success story. Everything worked exactly as we all wanted it to, with the exception of some live sound issues, which were better for the final performance, but still not perfect.

After the show, I grabbed a bite to eat at Zach’s Eyetalian CafĂ©, then came home, then toddled off the our cast party, which was only five minutes from the home environment. I usually dread such things, but this one was warm and convivial and a lot of fun – with good appetizer-type foodstuffs. The writer/producer made a very nice speech, acknowledging everyone’s contributions and it was all very pleasantly pleasant. After that, I came home and sat on my couch like so much fish, then finished doing the press releases for the two new Kritzerland CDs, and then I checked out the first pass at the Brain booklet and inlay card – it’s going to be a splendidly splendid package. There are many typos to fix, and I want to swap out some of the photos for other photos and want to try doing the inlay card in a slightly different way, but most of it is just fine. I’m still hoping to have both CDs up for preorder by Friday.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because… well, because…

Well, after such a beautiful yesterday, maybe somehow today won’t be as horrifying as I think it will be. But, you know, if it is as horrifying as I think it will be, there’s always tomorrow. If not, we’ll always have Paris.

Of course, I could just… keep doing… ellipses, and then I’d never have to even leave this paragraph.

In any case, today I must get up early and begin to try and deal with everything that needs dealing with. I shall try my utmost to do damage control, and we shall see what we shall see. I also hope to put the Brain booklet to bed, and I hope to have our web designer everything she needs to get the titles up for preorder asap. I know that after this day I will need to relax and smell the coffee or the roses or the shaving cream, and therefore I shall watch at least one motion picture on DVD. If the day turns out less horrifying, then perhaps one of the new Doris Day DVDs I just got. If the day turns out completely horrifying, then my mood will probably demand the new Special Edition of Silence Of The Lambs. I hope Doris wins, frankly.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, deal with stuff all the livelong day, try to make everything okay, and then watch a DVD. Today’s topic of discussion: Let’s put on our Minnie Kritzer hats – what are your all-time favorite stupid sayings – those sayings like “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” or “the proof is in the pudding” that just baffle and confuse, and delight and amuse? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and please send any and all excellent vibes to the City of Studio. In the meantime, let me just do this… and this…
