I LOVE LUCIDITY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Saturday. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information? Nowhere, that’s where. I’m quite logey right now, having about ten pounds of Chinese food in my stomach environment. I’m sitting here like so much fish, unable to think, unable to move, unable to focus. And yet, I must write these here notes and attempt pith and wit and lucidity. I Love Lucidity – wasn’t that a TV show? Okay, I am rambling. I am a rambling rose or a rambling Rambler or a rambling Jew. Speaking of a rambling Jew, yesterday I was quite a rambling Jew. For example, I got up and I was a Jew and I rambled. I then attended a breakfast meeting with Miss Joan Ryan at Du-Par’s. We switched booths three times because of the rather dubious odor at two of them. We had a nice meeting, and after paying I complained about the dubious odor and was told they’re working on it, that whatever they’re cleaning the tables with it’s got bleach in it, and bleach that smells really bad. I told her it was nausea-inducing. After that, I went directly to the Burbank Hilton, which, in fact, is no longer the Burbank Hilton, it’s now the Marriott. I arrived to find a rather crowded Ray Courts show in full swing. They haven’t done all that many shows on a Friday and the ones they have done have been very ill attended, but this one had a really nice crowd. I did a quick tour of the room and saw the likes of Nastasia Kinski, Jane Russell, Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens), Miss Yvonne (Lynne Stewart), Julie Adams, John Kerr, Neile Adams McQeen Toffell, Phyllis Coates, David Lander, Sally Struthers, Burt Ward and Adam West, Tonya Harding, William Schallert, Pat Carroll, Joanna Cassidy, Joseph Turkel, Edd “Kookie” Byrnes, Gogi Grant, Francine York, Bill (Jose Jimenez) Dana, Rick Lenz, Robert (The Dialect Doctor) Easton, Julie Newmar, Mariette Hartley, and a host of others. Of course, I was most excited to finally meet Mr. Bert I. Gordon – we’ve spoken on the phone but never actually met. Well, what a treat. We had a lovely chat and I was happy to see he was doing quite well at the show. The two biggest draws were Pee Wee Herman and Miss Kinski – both had constant lines. I spoke to quite a few folks I know, as well as schmoozed with some dealers. I did a little trading, got a few interesting CDs, and about ten Lesbian paperbacks of the sort I reference in the title story of How To Write A Book and Other Stories. I stayed longer than I normally do because for the first time at this particular venue, there was a real camaraderie in the room and it was fun to watch and to walk around.

After the show, Mr. Bert I. Gordon, his eighteen-year-old daughter Christina, and I supped at Genghis Cohen, where we had a splendidly splendid time and a lot of splendidly splendid foodstuffs. Mr. Gordon hadn’t been there before and he really enjoyed everything he ate. We talked about his movies, how it was back then, I told him where I saw most of his pictures, and I also talked to him about a little project I thought he might want to think about. As it turned out, he’s been thinking about it, so I’m going to try and help him make it happen. His daughter Christina has just started college at UC Irvine and is thinking about majoring in German and Business. She’s a sweetheart. I gave them both a copy of The Brain From Planet X CD and I gave Bert a copy of How To Write A Dirty Book and Other Stories. After dinner, I finally came home, where I fell onto my couch like so much fish, unable to move for quite some time.

Am I being lucid? I Love Lucidity. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because if we don’t I shall start to ramble again and a Jew may only ramble once per section.

Today, I shall be returning to the Ray Courts show to do a little more trading with a couple of dealers (I’m bringing stuff they specifically asked me to bring), and say hey to some other celebs I know (like Miss Carroll, who played my mother-in-law in a TV show). I also have to package up a couple of orders and ship them out, prior to going to the show.

After I return, I shall sup and then sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a DVD or three. Tomorrow, I don’t think I have any plans and I shall do nothing whatsoever other than perhaps write a page or three. I intend to write every day from now on – I wasn’t doing that until I got the Margaret stamp of approval, and now I want to just go with it, straight down the line.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship packages, attend a show, write, sup, and watch. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the last book you read – and tell us what you thought of it and if you’d recommend it. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s all watch a rerun of I Love Lucidity.
