SOMETHING I ATE DIDN’T AGREE WITH ME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here trying to write these here notes, but it is very difficult because for the last few hours something I ate is not agreeing with me. I hate when something I ate is not agreeing with me, don’t you? Something I ate is always disagreeing with me and arguing for the sake of arguing. In any case, something I ate is not agreeing with me and I, in turn, am not agreeing with something I ate. It’s an old-fashioned stalemate. Hence, I think I’ll just breeze through the notes as quickly as possible so that I can go lie down on my bed like so much fish until something I ate starts agreeing with me and stops being so disagreeable. Where was I? Oh, yes, breezing through the notes. How can I breeze through the notes when something I ate is not agreeing with me? Oh, well, I shall endeavor to do my best. Speaking of my best, yesterday was a day, wasn’t it? I woke up, and then Mr. Grant Geissman arrived and we toddled off to the Shrine Auditorium to walk around the comic book show. It’s really a pretty dreary show, and the soundtrack dealer I hoped would be there wasn’t. Still, we saw some nice Golden Age comics, and other interesting items, including some nifty and surprisingly inexpensive pachinko machines. I picked up two very inexpensive items – a book of cartoons by the great Frank Tashlin – it’s quite a rare book actually, but this copy, while in primo condition, was a second edition – still, I’m glad to have it. The other thing I picked up was a CD of film music by Stanley Black, which I’m looking forward to hearing. After the Shrine, I came home, did some errands, and then went to supper with a friend. Said friend had asked me to read a one-act play they’d written. I had, and I gave my comments, which said friend was most appreciative of hearing. But, something at that dinner, something I ate, didn’t agree with me and I spent the rest of the evening lying on my couch like so much fish, trying to not move and to let my stomach be calm. I also managed to write a little bit, basically just fixing and adding stuff to yesterday’s pages.

Last night, I watched half of a motion picture on DVD entitled The Heiress, starring Olivia de Havilland and Mr. Montgomery Clift. I’m enjoying it very much and will have a full report as soon as I’ve finished it.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because something I ate is still not agreeing with me and I am about to kick something I ate’s butt cheeks from here to eternity and hell and back.

I really hope I’m feeling better in the morning, for I must get up, do stuff, and then have a two-hour work session with Miss Joan Ryan, after which I must come home and have Lauren Rubin sign CDs, after which I must write at least two or three pages, at which point I will hand over the first forty pages of the book to my muse Margaret. I don’t think I have anything else going on, so I’ll be able to relax and smell the coffee or the roses or the oatmeal.

The rest of the week should be nice and busy – I’ll be working with Miss Ryan, Miss Alet Taylor, and Miss Merissa Haddad, on different days. I think I have a couple of dinners to attend as well, but I really can’t remember at this time, oh, no, I really cannot remember at this time. I do hope I’ve written it down somewhere. Of course, Wednesday is Valentine’s Day and we do hope for some heart candies.

Remember, The Brain From Planet X and Joan Ryan CDs are in and so if you haven’t placed your order, what in tarnation are you waiting for?

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, work with Joan Ryan, sup, write, and finish watching a motion picture on DVD. Today’s topic of discussion: Continuing our favorite songs of a decade, what are your all-time favorite songs of the 40s – songs, performances and recordings of said songs, and like that, daddy-o. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, while my stomach and I try and come to an agreement.
