March 28, 2007:

GOING AND DOING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because today is one of those days that will be comprised of non-stop going and doing and also doing and going. I shall have very little time in between the goings and the doings, but it should be a nice, productively productive day. I shall be going hither and thither and also yon all the livelong day and night. Speaking of day and night, yesterday was a day and night. I got a great night’s sleep of about nine hours, which I really needed. I got up, did some things, then wrote a couple of pages right away, after smoothing out the previous day’s pages. Then I did a couple of errands, wrote a couple more pages, then had some lunch at Art’s Deli. I returned and wrote even more pages, then finally toddled off to rehearse with Miss Merissa Haddad. She was quite sick, so we only worked a little over an hour – but I routined all but two songs, so we’re in very good shape. After that, I came home, gassed up the motor car, and wrote another page. I then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled Infernal Affairs II, which was the sequel but not the sequel to Infernal Affairs. What II is, in fact, is the prequel – the events leading up to Infernal Affairs. I confess I was confused by some of it, but it’s a really well made film with excellent performances all around by the Hong Kong cast. The two leading actors from the first film are here played by younger actors who are good matches for them. There is a lot going on in the film, with surprising depth for both good guys and bad guys. There are multiple betrayals and lots of good action scenes that unlike American films, are not overly violent (there is a lot of violence, but most of the bloodletting occurs just out of camera range). I’m now interested to watch the final episode, Infernal Affairs III, which is indeed the sequel to the first film. The transfer was excellent.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because soon I shall be going and doing, not necessarily in that order.

My goodness, these are very short notes, aren’t they? They are succinct and to the point. They are lithe and lean with abs and buns of steel.

This morning I shall be rehearsing with Miss Joan Ryan for two hours, then I must meet some people at one, then I must come back to the home environment where I must write two to three pages and finish the chapter I’m on, after which I shall print out the current batch of about fifty-five pages (written in eight days), get them Xeroxed and over to my muse Margaret. Then I’m into the home stretch of the book, the final sixty to seventy pages.

After writing, I shall then be on my way to the Monica of Santa to sup and then see Mr. Kurosawa’s masterpiece, High and Low at the Aero Theater. I’m quite looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. After that, I shall return home and the notes will probably go up a bit late (High and Low is close to three hours).

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, write, rehearse, meet, write, sup, and see a motion picture on the big screen. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we? And today, we shall set a new all-time posting record for a one month period, toppling February’s record with three days to go. Pretty good, if you ask me.
