ROLLERCOASTER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, am I glad it’s the weekend. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, am I glad it’s the weekend. This past week has been fascinating – a rollercoaster ride almost every day. It culminated yesterday with one of those days where I could never get ahead – I was always one step behind, trying to stay on top of things and to catch up. I got up early, did some things, took care of an annoying errand, came home, wrote a page, and then had to toddle off to a lunch meeting with Miss Merissa Haddad. She liked my order and that’s what we’ll go into rehearsal with. She gave me the music for the medley I have to put together, and she’s feeling much better than she was. I then came home to write, but instead was greeted with a couple of e-mails having to do with the alumni association, and I spent the next two hours dealing with that. I began to feel that I was almost sorry for even suggesting that I take it over and try to do something worthwhile.

After dealing with all that, I toddled off to sign 100 Creature booklets. After that, I came home to yet another e-mail, this one clearly designed to try and elicit a delay – that I did not respond to. I’d already been having conversations about whether I should just walk away and let them go on as they’ve been going on for years – and finding another way for me to implement my plans. Then I received a call with the final vote tallies – of the thirteen board members, eleven voted yes in favor of my plan and my taking over the organization, and two voted no. That seemed to be a mandate and an overwhelming majority. An e-mail was sent out stating all that, and welcoming me as the new leader of the organization. I’ve heard nothing since. Tomorrow I will write a letter thanking everyone and hoping that we can now all move forward in a positive rather than negative way. While two people obviously had problems, I’m hoping that all that energy can now be funneled in positive directions rather than negative directions. I have no idea if they will try to protest the majority vote, but I would sincerely hope not.

After all that, I managed to write three more pages. I know I’ll have some smoothing out to do but I’ll have lots of time this weekend to do so – plus my research assistant will have all sorts of things for me later today, and when I add that in it will add another two to three pages to what I wrote yesterday. However, even without the extra pages, I happily passed page two hundred. My muse Margaret called and told me she loved the latest batch of pages, and she only had one tiny suggestion, which, of course, was a good one and which I’ll implement today. After that, I got some dinner, and after that I packaged up all the CD orders so I can ship them this very morning. And that was my crazier than crazy day.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because these here notes are just too dry and they lack oomph (hpmoo, spelled backwards) and vim and verve and pep and zip, and perhaps the next section will be perkier.

Did you know that today is the final day of March? Did you know that tomorrow will be April 1st? Isn’t that foolish? Tomorrow I will also be attending a Passover dinner at Miss Joan Ryan’s. Isn’t it interesting that Passover and April Fool’s Day happen concurrently? I gotta tell you. As stated in prior notes, I’m sending all of us excellent vibes and xylophones for an exciting and successfully successful April.

March, of course, has been an amazing month for haineshisway.com, where we have broken every record known to this site. Highest posting month, most views, most hits, most new members, most everything. Thanks to one and all and also all and one for making that happen.

Today, I shall ship packages, and then I shall write like the wind and I think we all know how the wind writes. Later, I shall sup and then I shall be seeing Mr. Kevin Spirtas at Barnsdall Park in an edited version of our show. I’m looking forward to it very much.

Now wait just a darned minute. We’d better put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, we’d better break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, we’d better dance the Hora or the Monkey, because today is the actual birthday of the actual errant and truant Ann. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to the actual errant and truant Ann. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO THE ACTUAL ERRANT AND TRUANT ANN!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, ship, write, write, write, and then see Mr. Kevin Spirtas. Today’s topic of discussion: What have been the most extraordinary productions of Shakespeare plays you’ve seen – why were they extraordinary, and what performances have been the most incredible? Also, what are your favorite films adapted from Shakespeare? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we bid March a fond farewell and we welcome April in with open arms.
