March 11, 2007:

THE TWIT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must once again write these here notes in a hurry because soon it will be two o’clock in the morning and, of course, just when you think it’s two o’clock in the morning it’s really three o’clock in the morning thanks to some incredible twit who has decreed that daylight savings time will start a month earlier than normal. This will supposedly save energy, to which I say phooey. Because I think we all know that when they do the inevitable study they will find out that it hasn’t done a damn thing except cause annoyance and further put the Earth off its feed. In any case, they’ve done it and at two o’clock it will be three o’clock and March will suddenly feel like April and the whole thing has my head spinning like a dreidl run amok. I’m hoping that this here computer will do what it needs to do when the time change occurs – I believe I downloaded all the necessary things for that to happen. I have no idea if the VCR will update or not. I have no idea if I will update or not. I mean, what’s next – all year daylight savings time? In any case, today we jump ahead one hour because it has been decreed we must – we, of course, haven’t been asked. Well, I suppose we must all grin and bear it or, at the very least, grin and bare it, which is what I feel like doing to the twit who made this happen. Speaking of the twit who made this happen, yesterday was a fun little day. For example, I woke up. That was fun. I then had to leave the home environment for she of the Evil Eye had arrived. I had a little matzo brei and then did some location research for Ye Olde Booke. The location was absolute perfection for my needs and I took lots of notes and drew a very detailed diagram. After that, I went to Larry Edmund’s bookshop. I hadn’t been in ages, and I had a nice chat with an acquaintance who works there. I then came home and began writing, and I managed to do six count them six pages and to finish the chapter I was working on. As I’ve said, I normally don’t do that, but I know exactly how the next chapter begins and what it’s about, so it will be fine. After that, I got some dinner, and then I came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

I’ve been watching these Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour things. I must say they’re a mixed bag. The guest stars always seem to be having a grand time, but Lucy seems bored a lot of the time. There are still many very amusing things. In the episode where Danny Thomas and family from Make Room For Daddy lease Lucy and Desi’s place, the guest stars are wonderful and are obviously having a grand time. In the show about how Lucy and Desi met, Ann Southern is wonderful playing her TV role of Susie McNamara from Private Secretary. The transfer quality is terrific, and I know there are some very interesting extras, which I’ll get to soon.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because in two short hours it will be three hours later.

Today, when I arise I will already be behind thanks to the twit who decreed we must have daylight savings time in March rather than April. I am having a brunch at the Farmer’s Market Du-Par’s with a long-time lurker who I’m looking forward to meeting. After that, it’s back home to start the new chapter and do as many pages as I can muster. After that, the rest of the day is mine although, that said, I must start preparing envelopes for the shipping of the David Shire CD, which I’m hoping will be here Wednesday.

The upcoming week is quite busy, although I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing. I do know I have several work sessions, an opening night or two, a birthday do, and a few meetings. I know that I always tell people to remind me, so if I’m forgetting things I know I’ll hear about them.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, brunch, jog, write, and relax, and maybe begin addressing packages. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, as we begin daylight savings time a month early thanks to some twit who thought it was a good idea.
