QUITE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am getting to Ye Olde Notes quite late because I had a quite late evening, so I must write like the wind or else they will go up quite late and then I will not get quite enough of my beauty sleep, and if I don’t get quite enough of my beauty sleep then I shall be quite cranky and that is quite unacceptable. My goodness, that was an endless sentence, wasn’t it? And what’s with all the “quites?” That is just a whole mess of quites, isn’t it? In fact, I’ve quite had it with the word quite, haven’t you? Quite. Where was I? Oh, yes, I must write like the wind. Of course, I don’t happen to think the wind writes all that well – poor punctuation, you can barely read what the wind writes, and the wind has little command of the English language. Speaking of the English language, yesterday ended up being a very productive and good day. For example, I woke up. That was very good and productive. I then did some things that needed doing, then toddled off to an important lunch, which went splendidly on many levels. Most importantly, although I cannot share any details for some time, it does appear that The Brain From Planet X will be returning to a stage in Los Angeles, California, USA in 2008. I will have more details as soon as things solidify a bit more. In any case, I’m very excited about it happening. The lunch lasted two hours, and then I came home and answered e-mails and made telephonic calls, and then Mr. Nick Redman dropped by and we had a nice visit. After that, I toddled off to Mr. Grant Geissman’s home environment, where we spent a few hours coming up with a cover for the new book. We used a photograph and he did something interesting to it to make it not look so much like a photograph, and then he came up with a title treatment. The original image, which he mocked up in Photoshop, looked great, but when he imported it into Quark to put in the title treatment, the image got darker and it doesn’t look as good. I’m hoping he can lighten it to match the Photoshop version because it does more of what he wants and looks more interesting. But, overall I was pretty pleased with it – it grabs your eye and has a sense of fun about it. We then went out and got some food, and then I finally came home, where I didn’t even have a second to sit on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I didn’t have a chance to finish a motion picture on DVD, but I have been watching the new Columbo Mystery Movies box set, all of said movies having been filmed in 1989, late into the Columbo period. They’re not as good as the originals, and Falk has become more of a caricature than a character, but the two I’ve watched so far were very entertaining (one guest-starred Fisher Stevens as a Spielberg-like film director and the other guest-starred Anthony Zerbe). The transfers, thus far, are lovely, and both shows had outstanding-if-synthy scores by Pat Williams and John Cacavas, respectively. I didn’t really think I’d enjoy these as much as I did, and I’m looking forward to watching the rest of them.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it is quite the thing to do, so let’s quite do it, shall we?

Today I have a bunch of stuff going on, including a breakfast with our very own Miss Lauren Ruben, after which I have a longer than usual rehearsal with Miss Joan Ryan and Mr. John Boswell, after which I shall do a bunch of errands, after which I will come home, and then most likely have some supper out.

Most of Saturday is mine all mine. Sunday, we have an alumni association meeting, but I think that’s all, so most of that day will be mine, too, so I hope to get some relaxation and some DVD viewing in.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog (if time allows), breakfast, rehearse, drive about in my motor car, sup, and perhaps I’ll even do some whatnot, just for a change of pace. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start: CD, the about to be released Jerry Fielding score to The Enforcer, which is excellent. DVD, a dreadful TV movie from the 70s called A Guide For The Married Woman, a remake of the dreadful 60s film, A Guide For The Married Man. After that, Ball Of Fire. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we? Quite.
