LOSING MY MIND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, how can it be Wednesday when it was just Tuesday. I tell you, this week is flying by like a gazelle in a thong. There are just so many things to attend to that sometimes I am not only overwhelmed, I am superwhelmed. In the midst of all the attending, sometimes I stand in the middle of the floor, not going left, not going right. Yes, Virginia, it’s like I’m losing my mind – or as Dame Edna sings, it’s like I’m looozing my mind. What am I, Sally Durant Plummer all of a sudden? In any case, it’s like I’m losing my mind, and yet I must stay focused and on target always. Every day there are new things to attend to, new things to sign, new things to ship, new conversations to have, new Cherry Ripe candy bars to eat, new errands to run, new e-mails and telephonic calls to answer. In other words, it’s like I’m losing my mind. Speaking of my mind, yesterday was a pleasantly pleasant day in certain ways and a nerve-wracking day in other ways. For example, I got up. That was pleasantly pleasant. I then answered a slew of e-mails and had several telephonic calls. I was able to book a sublet for the short trip at the beginning of August, so at least that’s covered. I had a call from the gentleman who’s supposed to write the check for the fundraiser funding, and he seemed very confused and asked many questions only a few of which I could answer. I asked him to please get in touch with the recently resigned president of the college who agreed to fund this in this particular way and he said he would. Luckily, I have the guy’s phone number now, and I also sent an e-mail to the president of the college asking him to get hold of this guy pronto. We need more excellent vibes and xylophones to bring this to a happy and quick resolution so I can have this major piece of stress removed from my already stress-filled shoulders. I took two ¾ inch videos to a place to get them transferred to DVD – one, my episode of Angie, and two, all my stuff from the Dinah And Her New Best Friends show. I did some errands, I shipped some things, I ate some lunch, and then I spoke to Mr. Grant Geissman and he said that I should just come on over to enter my fixes and stuff, which I did. Entering fixes, doing style stuff, and adding one image to the book, only took about ninety minutes. I am thinking about making one significant style change to the book, although if we do it, it will probably necessitate a thorough re-proofing. I’ve done all of my books ragged on the right side – in other words, left side justified, right side ragged. I’ve liked it because it’s different and not done very often. But, I’m thinking for this book I may want it more conventional-looking – if we do it, it’s going to change everything, so that I’ll have to check anew for bad breaks and weirdnesses. I’ll decide by tomorrow. After we finished, we went to Mel’s and had Buffalo wings. I then came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I started to watch a motion picture on DVD entitled Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer. I didn’t realize it was yet another two-and-a-half hour movie so I only got about seventy minutes in, and I’ll finish it later today. I will only say that it’s interesting, and that the first twenty minutes contain some of the ugliest images I’ve ever seen. I’ll have a complete report upon finishing it.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because right now I’m standing in the middle of the floor, not going left, not going right.

Today will mostly be a day of organization, doing Brain work, sending contracts, doing errands, and that sort of thing. I’m happy to announce that we have our set designer, Heather Wolensky. She is a protégé and assistant of our very own Mr. Tony Walton, so I’m more than thrilled to have her on board. I know that anyone Mr. Walton recommends is going to do a great job. Today I hope to have word on the costume designer, the lighting designer, and the wig and hair person – perhaps even the sound designer. Things are moving along at a quicker than quick pace now, and I feel like we have a really strong team so far. I think there are going to be some major issues with storage space at our theater and those are going to have to be worked out. But the big stuff is all getting taken care of – we now have our rehearsal space booked. There’s an offer going out to a potential Fred, and perhaps an offer to a potential General Mills, both name performers. If they don’t work out, then we will discuss our options and decide whether to wait and just see people during our casting sessions. I’m really hoping to settle the sublet situation for the long part of the trip within the next couple of weeks.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, but with a long meeting taking up a few hours during the day, and then a screening of a new documentary in the evening, about which I cannot say more at this time. I think there are things happening on Friday, but I can’t remember what they might be.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do Brain work, send in contracts, drive about in my motor car, have many telephonic conversations, and whatnot. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you dear readers get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we – whilst I stand in the middle of the room not going left, not going right and losing my mind. And please keep those excellent vibes and xylophones coming for a successful and quick resolution to getting our funding for the fundraiser.
