BK GOES TO NY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am writing these here notes a little earlier than usual, because shortly I will be going to bed a little earlier than usual, because shortly after that I will be arising a little earlier than usual to fly to New York, New York to attend casting sessions for The Brain From Planet X, and have a big production meeting, as well. I also intend to see some friends, some hainsies/kimlets, and I’m sure I’ll be having at least two meals at Ye Olde Hangout, Joe Allen. I’ll be arriving at the airport two hours before the flight, as I’m a nervous traveler and would rather be early and have to wait rather than worry about getting stuck in a security line. And, if I get through quickly and there’s still ninety minutes to spare, I’ll just sit and relax and play on the Internet. I get into New York, New York at around three-thirty in the afternoon, and then however long it takes to get into the city and to the place where I’m staying. Once there, I’m praying that there is a wireless signal to glom onto so that I don’t have to worry about the Internet. The thought of having to seek out a wireless hot spot every night to post the notes is not something I would relish or even mustard – but this woman sublets this jernt regularly and so I don’t think anyone would stay there unless they could get on the Internet. Still, there’s a phone line, if that becomes necessary. Speaking of necessary, yesterday was a day in which I got everything done early – my errands, packing, and taking care of a few things. So, most of the day I just relaxed, I had a nice dinner, and then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched one count them one motion picture on DVD entitled Scream Of Fear, a Hammer Film starring Miss Susan Strasberg, Miss Ann Todd, Mr. Kenneth Haigh, and Mr. Christopher Lee. It’s one of those Hammer “thrillers” that followed in the wake of Hitchcock’s Psycho. It’s certainly competently done, but the plot is so predictable that anyone with a brain knows exactly where the film is going in Miss Strasberg’s first scene with Miss Todd at the dinner table. Then one sits for another seventy minutes (the film runs a brief eighty-one minutes) watching it unfold exactly that way you’d think it would. The big “surprise” (or surprises) aren’t surprising in the least. This film isn’t available on DVD, but this anamorphic transfer, sent to me by a friend, is excellent, with a really nice black-and-white image.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because soon I must get my beauty rest and then BK Goes To NY.

Today, I shall be on my way to New York, New York. I believe I’ll be supping with dear reader elmore at Joe Allen, so if any dear readers are free, do stop on by. I’m sure we’ll meet up around six-thirty or seven. Tomorrow, our first casting session starts at noon and goes until five. After that, my choreographer wants to have a drink to “discuss things.” I’m not sure what that means, but I hope it’s all positive. If it isn’t, I have someone excellent and unexpected who really would love to step in and do it. After that meeting, I’ll be going to dear reader FJL’s home environment for some home cookin’ a la Skip.

Tuesday, we have a big production meeting taking place at my general manager’s office. No plans for Tuesday evening yet, so I’m available and happy to listen to offers. Wednesday is our second day of casting and will go from ten to five, if I’ve heard correctly. I haven’t booked anything for Wednesday evening either, so let’s try to do a hainsies/kimlets gathering Tuesday or Wednesday night. Then, early on Thursday morning, I shall head back to the Newark airport and fly home to LA, where there will be a lot of work waiting for me.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, fly to New York, New York, get settled in the place where I’m staying, figure out the Internet situation, and then sup with elmore and whoever else can come. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings shall we, as BK goes to NY.
