FULL SPEED AHEAD

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and also early and bright. Oh, I could take my sweet time and go off on a tangent about a gazelle eating a fruit cup, but I shan’t. I shall just get on with it, and I hope it doesn’t mind. I shall just jump in, dive forth, full speed ahead or, at the very least, full speed afoot. Speaking of afoot, yesterday was a day in which things happened. For example, I got up. That happened. Then I proofed about three chapters, then I worked at the piano for a long time, completely writing a new song to replace a Nudie Musical song that, looking at it in the cold light of day, didn’t work at all. Ironically, it was the Where Is A Man song, which was cut from the movie. I’d put it back, but it was just too general in its ideas, so I came up with new music and a much more specific lyric – it’s sort of the same idea but funnier because it’s no longer general. I had an early lunch with Miss Lauren Rubin, and we had fun chatting about this and that and also that and this. I had several long telephonic calls, too. Then I continued cleaning up the Nudie Musical script. Then I went out and did a few errands, ate some dinner, and then finally came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched no motion pictures on DVD. Frankly, my eyes were too tired from all that proofing and cleaning and working at the piano and typing on the computer. So, I did a little organizing, found a book I’d been looking for for three months (I knew I hadn’t sold it, but could NOT find it anywhere) – I simply forgot that I have three shelves of oversized books in the closet in which I keep my DVDs – and there it was. I’m going to have to clear out all the DVDs that are stacked on the floor and find a new place to put them, so that I can actually see the books that are in there. Perhaps I’ll do that today when I get back home. I also did a little online research into the values of a few of the books on my shelves – no big surprises save for a couple of titles that have really gone up in value. That’s always nice to find, and it includes the book I finally found, which has tripled in price. After that, I just played on the computer until it was finally time to write these here notes.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I think it’s time to be full speed ahead into the next section.

Today, I shall do a bunch of errands whilst she of the Evil Eye cleans the home environment, after which I shall return to do more proofing, cleaning, and writing at the piano. I’ve also got two lyrics to re-do for the musical I’m mentoring, so I’ll work on those, too. I also have to prepare for the second production meeting for The Brain early tomorrow morning. And then this evening I may watch the PBS broadcast of Company. We shall see.

Tomorrow, of course, I have the early production meeting, and then I’m supposed to see Assassins at two o’clock, but I may have to change that, depending on how long the show runs, as I must be back here for our annual Oscar bash no later than 4:45, since the show starts at five here on the West Coast. I’ll find out today how long Assassins is – I just can’t remember, and I don’t remember if the show has an intermission or not. In any case, this will be the place to be for the best Oscar bash on all the Internet or anywhere else for that or any other matter.

Well, I suppose we can put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, I suppose we can break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, I suppose we can dance the Hora and the Charleston, because today is the birthday of our new dear reader Druxy, whose musical I’m mentoring. So, even though he’s only made a handful of postings, let’s all give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to new dear reader Druxy. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO NEW DEAR READER DRUXY!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands, eat food, proof, clean, write music and/or lyrics, and continue organizing the DVD closet. Today’s topic of discussion: Why it’s time for your Oscar predictions – who do you think will win in each and every category? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as it’s full speed ahead to the bedroom environment.
