GOODBYE NEW YORK, HELLO LA!

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must be up even before the crack of dawn, so I shall keep these here notes brief so I can get some sleep and then be on my way to the Newark airport for my flight back to LA. I’m very much looking forward to coming home. Speaking of coming home, yesterday was a very nice day. I slept nine solid hours, which I really needed. I then went to the fitness room and thankfully there was no one there. I did seven miles on the treadmill and then came up to the room and shaved and showered and packed up the big box o’ stuff. I then walked to a nearby Fed Ex and shipped it home. I then came back to the hotel, did some preliminary packing of the suitcase (very light on the way home), and then was on my way to rehearse with Linda Purl and Kevin Spirtas. We had to stage a long seven-minute Gershwin medley for them to do for a cabaret booker’s conference in January. Even though I find the medley a little odd and will be adjusting it in many ways for the show itself, I got it on its feet, gave it some attitude and a few steps and by the end of two hours we pretty much had it. It’s very cute. I then headed over to John’s Pizza for our haineshisway.com get-together.

Our partay consisted of Jose, FJL, Noel, Adam Cates and his boyfriend, and little ol’ me. It was a lot of fun with a lot of nice folks and great conversation. I had four slices of pizza – two pepperoni and two plain, and that was that – my only meal o’ the day. We did have a little bit of drama when I went to pour myself some Diet Coke from a large pitcher – a little went in my glass while a good deal more went directly onto my pants. I was sopping wet and quite annoyed, but they brought me a towel and I used some water and everything seems fine, pants-wise. We were there about two hours, and then we all said our goodbyes and I hurried back to the hotel, where I printed out my boarding pass (FJL had tried to, but because he was doing it through AOL, AOL wasn’t loading the graphics, hence no bar code). I then finished packing save for my toothpaste and toothbrush, which I’ll pack after using them in the morning.

So, all in all, this was a pretty wonderful trip. I saw lots of friends, met lots of new and terrific folks, directed a benefit that turned out wonderfully, had lots of good meals, exercised every day save for the benefit day, saw some fun and excellent theater, had a nice room in the hotel, and basically I can’t think of one negative thing to say about the entire experience.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because shortly I will be saying Goodbye New York, Hello LA!

Today, as you know, I shall be getting up VERY early and heading to the Newark airport and then flying home to LA. I shall then unpack, open a whole slew of packages that have arrived during my absence, look at Turkey Lurkey Time courtesy of a DVD Adam gave me, and then jog, eat something fun, and after that I shall sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a DVD or three and relax.

I shall also relax on Thursday and take the day off, save for some shipping and banking I have to attend to. Then on Friday I shall dig into some work, some writing, and I’ll be having several meetings with people about their upcoming shows. Next week should be a fairly busy one.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, fly home to LA, do various and sundried errands, and then relax and hopefully catch up on my sleep. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I say Goodbye New York, Hello LA!
